Needing some help here I guess. Recently purchased some Radar locks that actually turned out to be some darn good replicas. Called Oakley and talked to them who intern opened a case with an investigator in my area. Helped them set a sting with the seller of these products and work with the Phoenix police. After talking to the guy @ Oakley he promised me he would send me some stuff for helping out. Well I called him today and he has totally changed his tune and offered me nothing only to tell my that the items I bought are now part of police evidence and basically a big piss off now. I was like "WHAT??". I am really thinking of emailing Colin and wondering what the heck is going on. Any thoughts? Its like I helped them set up this seller and not only loose my products but get a swift kick in the you know what. Just doesn't seem right.

don't feel bad...I turned a guy over that turned out to be a $250,000 bust and I didn't get so much as a thank you. Oakley is greedy as all hell in my book when it comes to this stuff. I still have the email somewhere from the former head of security there who sent me the info that it turned into a large hit.

Wow that is just too bad. You go out of your way to help them out and not even a thank you. Its just unreal how this "head of security" acts like your best friend on the phone then kicks you in the nuts at the end of the day. Hope you sleep well at night sir. Ill be emailing Mr Baden tomorrow.

I understand your frustration, but do you really think it is a good idea to email the CEO of Oakley about it?

Prob not, im sure he is busy but worth a try. At least he should be aware of how his employees are treating/lying to their loyal customers who are going out of their way to protect their image. Whether or not I get a reply or anything out of it doesn't really matter.

So... it shows you just joined today. Was that the purpose? Just to come here and rant or are you really an enthusiast?

It looks like I'm having the same issue with Oakley, sort of. I was browsing the Zappos.com site and I came across this, http://www.zappos.com/oakley-holbrook-matte-black-w-ice-iridium-polarized (it's a Matte Black with Ice "Holbrook"). For me Zappos has always been a great retailer for Oakley's, but when I saw this photo I had my doubts. So I emailed Zappos and informed them of the fake Oakley photos and was emailed back that it would be forwarded to the appropriate department, that was over two weeks ago. I also reported it to Oakley at the same time. I just hope they are not really selling that pair and it's just a photo issue.

It sure would change things if whistleblowers were given a percentage of the value of the bust...
As is, we're reporting fakes out of our loyalty to the brand, which doesn't cost corporate. Our payback is OEM quality and innovation.
