You should be able to add a small what some companies call a "rider" policy I believe that insures your collectibles. I have that on my oaks and my wife's wedding ring.

Yep. I have a rider for 50K on my collection.

LOL. I hope my place never burns down, but if it does I can assure you that ALL of my personal property coverage will be paid out... and my home will be 100% paid for. No extra insurance here (although that may not be a bad idea to get some).

I was thinking of doing the same. Certainly wouldn't help as I can't re-buy most of them, but it wouldn't hurt.

Terror, they typically wont cover more than a specified amount of collectibles without extra insurance...mine was only $2000.

Yes, I know. My personal property is something like $60K... That would be gone instantly if the house went up in flames.

I am more than confident that I'd get them to pay, despite many insurance policies only covering certain amounts for collectibles. I used to work for an insurance company, so I have a solid understanding of how claims are paid/handled.

Ok...mine clearly states they wont cover more but insurance is not my field of expertise.

I guess I kinda figure it this way:

If the house burns to the ground & the entire collection is lost, it won't really matter how much it's insured for, anyway. There are so many pieces that are completely irreplaceable... It would be "stick a fork in me; I'm done!"

Hopefully nothing like that would ever happen... to any of us!

ouch, just got it sorted, had to go to a special insurer and im now paying double than i was before!

but unlike the previous insurers they really went into details and assured me that everything is totally covered AND each pair is insured if they get stolen from me when im out wearing them.
