I'm looking for another Splatter Radar. So I'd like the Splatter Purple this time - the one with white in the middle that fades to purple. And make sure it has white earsocks, icons, and nosepiece. And a Violet Iridium lens.
Why don't you go to the euro guy you keep painting red on ebay for that you lame ass!! How about this, I got a special piece for you, it hits the water about as hard as you'll hit the floor if you meet up with any number of people, I'll box it up and overnight it to you so it will hopefully be warm for you to cuddle up with tomorrow...Sound like a deal?? I'll gladly send that at my expense. You are one hell of a big guy terry, hiding in your basement behind your keyboard all mighty.

Guys, can we please have a thread that doesn't turn into this?

I'm not taking sides at all, and I'm not pointing fingers as to who started what with whom. I don't know the whole back story, and frankly, I don't care to.

I think I speak for many of us who come to this forum to exchange thoughts and ideas on our favorite hobby and our passion for all things Oakley. I understand that passion about something can get people heated, but I don't think it's necessary for thread after thread to become filled with angst, anger, and hate.

Just my $.02, take it for what it's worth, and I hope that no one takes offense to what I've said.

Have to give it to Josh he is right, wanting to sell some of your collection does not make you any less of a collector as much as owning 600+ pairs make one a "True" collector. Little story, back in 2002 my wife used to be the manager at the local Target Store, the kid that collected the shopping carts from the parking lot, 19 years old and built like a brick shit house but literally has the mentality of a 9 year old thus everyone picked and basically liked to fuck with him even though he could probably cleave someone’s head off of their necks with one punch. Now a cart pusher getting 6 hours a week does not make much money and this kid lived in foster homes all his life, one day my wife sees him with a pair of obviously fake Oakley XX, so fake my wife was able to tell they were fakes. She tells the kid they are fake, he notices a pair of teaspoons on her head and his response was that he cannot afford to buy real Oakley’s, It is either help his foster parents with rent, food etc., who have allowed him to stay with him and consider him a son well after he turned 18 and should have been set free in this world of ours , or as much as I love Oakley, buy a pair of expensive plastic glasses. He chose the former, I felt so bad that night when she told me the story as I looked at my collection at the time, about 30 pairs I thought to myself WTF am I spending my money on is this really worth it? Am I the ultimate Oakley collector because I own 30 pairs? I decided to give him a pair of my Oakley’s, half jackets root beer with bronze I believe, and needless to say he was ecstatic when I gave them to him. This kid wore that pair to death for two years, scratched as hell, peeling, missing Icons but he loved the hell out of them. His entire collection consists of two pairs of half jackets, a pair of monster dogs, a NY Yankees flak Jacket, A 9.1mm coat, an Icon pack a couple of t-shirts and to me he is the ultimate Oakley collector because he loves every single pair he owns and that gentlemen as we all know is what collecting is all about. just my 2 cents on the subject.

Exactly Jose, that's what it's about...I went to Vegas last month as a Christmas present from my fiance...It was a fun little experience to say the least. From the guy hoarding change from the fountains out front of Caesar's Palace, to seeing Blue Man Group for the first time, it was fun. Well, upon checkout, we had a little issue. Had to have rooms switched at 2am the first night since they screwed up at TI (I would NEVER recommend that hotel to anyone and it used to be my favorite) and in the process our valet ticket got lost. So, needless to say, it took some added time to get outta there LOL...The bellhop stayed with us the whole time waiting about 25min and was very cool to chat with. Kept asking if I worked for Oakley since all my apparel, watch, shades, and luggage was Oakley...Kind of funny. He told me that there is an exec from Oakley who always stays out there and he asked him how to get some stands for his 6 pairs. The exec told him it was totally not possible and public can't have them.

Well, with that, and all the time the guy spent with us, I was inclined to get his address and "Help" a fellow fan out. I sent him 2 doubles and 2 singles for his 6 pairs of shades. I paid all costs overnight them and hook him up. Just sent a note and told him "Thanks for making what started out as a crazy stay at the hotel so much better in the end"...Mind you I haven't gone over all the headache we had with TI...It was a mess. The guy was ecstatic and sent me a text thanking me and telling me anytime I am in Vegas, look him up and he will get us taken care of. Now a guy who has been at the same place in Vegas for 14 years probably has a good idea what to do and how to get it done, so I'll keep him in mind. And at Christmas, you can bet your ass I will be sending him some more Oakley just because he was nice. That is a collector, just the same as Jose and so many others out here. You aren't special because you have a large collection, unless you are Dr.J, Mark J, or maybe....Dann LOL...but I would bet my kids that NONE of them have ever had the audacity to ask another member to back off bidding on an item because he/she wants it, mind you that person already had it.

It's what you do for the fellow collector, little guy, or the person who just isn't capable. I have had my old neighbor's Juliets tuned up when I saw him sporting them with no rubbers, gouged lenses, and the bridge loose and sloppy...No cost, just did it. Another buddy gets his lenses replaced regularly because I respect him as a friend and can do it like that. I don't want a prize, I just like knowing my peeps are taken care of. Contribute to the forum, contribute to your fellow man, and don't abuse things when you get lucky and get hooked up.

Here is the pic he sent and the text:

Josh thanks so much for the Oakley stands!!! I'm sure my collection is small in comparison to yours but i'm getting there........thanks again......timmy

good stories Jose and Josh, you guys are totally dialed in with those and it is a great feeling when you can help someone out when they are in need and you get to see the true appreciation that one has for an item no matter how big or small it is! Two Thumbs Up to you both!!

Back on the thread, I guess I am one of the few that really likes what he is seeing from the O right now! I of course am seeing this from a dealers perspective and business is good so therefor I am good! Yeah things are a little different than they were but I think it is a bad idea to be sooo down with the company. Even though there are not as many "killer" pieces being made right now, there are more pieces and styles made right now that I would wear in everyday fashion than ever before! While I don't agree with how LUX has sunglass huts run their business, what can you do about it? Josh said it earlier that the elip o collection is struggling for sure right now, hopefully Pit Bull will provide a breath of fresh air into that collection this summer as there are some killer colorways in the initial mix for Pit Bull.

Also pretty sure it is no where even close to Josh Steal...... more like Josh STEELE to be a little more precise!

I'll say I've been pretty happy with how Oakley's been going the last couple years, but that's because I remember vividly the few years prior to that. The problem back in 2004-2007 was practically everything was fashion and streetwear-oriented. If we look through the posts back then, we were begging for some balance; yes, put out the fashion stuff but throw the hardcore fans a bone as well.

That's what they've been doing.

You got your aviators, your Wayfarer stuff, your edgy streetwear and your fashion stuff. On the other hand, you've got your traditional "cool" stuff like Pit Boss, X-Squared, Time Bomb II, Jawbone, Airbrake goggle, Fast Jacket, Wind Jacket, crazy-ass colorways (including tennis ball fuzz....WTF?), etc.

They can't appease everyone, but they're trying their best. I can't really expect more than a good balancing act, and they've been doing a good job so far.

Dann said in another thread that “Looking back to the 90's though, if we were fresh off the Zero's and such, then were presented with the New Frogskins, Tens, XX's, Fives, Straight Jackets, etc... There may have been the same fallout”. It’s a true observation. The feelings of disappointment nowadays is compounded by the internet experience, but I have no doubt we’d have the same complaints back then if the O-Review existed.

The Nostalgia Filter adds a lot too. We look back even during the good times, and forget that the Pocket, and Fate, and Valve all came out around the same time as the Plate, Scar, OTT. There's a constant stream of good and bad. I think the Jawbone, upcoming Fast Jacket, and a few others will sprinkle in some interesting models while the others pay the bills.

Just a fun story about Josh:
A buddy of mine can't really wear Oakleys, as he is a douche, and was born looking silly. He's been my best friend for 17 years now. Anyway, his favorite pair of sunglasses is a pair of Dragons that he got back in 2002. In a miracle of modern engineering, they fit his Quasimoto-looking Mongoloid face. As such, they've been the only sunglasses he's ever really worn. Then lenses on them delaminated after a time, and I was doing my best to find him a pair of Oakleys that he couldn't make look goofy. In the end, only his Dragons fit the bill, but he couldn't see out of them. I called up Josh, explained that if it were possible, I'd like to have a pair of Oakley lenses cut to fit his Dragons. Sure enough, he took the challenge. Anyway, when the time comes to pick them up, I head over there, and he's just finishing up one of the lenses, as life seems to get in the way, and they weren't quite done. We're BSing, he's cutting, and the dremel slips and falls. In his haste to not get cut, the lens goes flying. We spent over an hour searching for it, but we found nothing. I'm sure it has made its way to Narnia by now. Josh pulls out a set of his own lenses, carves them up, pops them in, and the Dragons were better than when they were new. I asked him, "How much?" He replied, "It's your buddy's birthday, don't worry about it."

Josh cut a pair of lenses for a pair for which there were no guarantees, spent an hour searching for my lens, sacrificed a set of his own, did the work, and then didn't charge at all, for a guy he didn't know, and might not ever meet.

Vince digs his reborn Dragons, and has worn them every day since his birthday.

Josh is a hell of a human being. I admire his charity, his hook-ups, his honesty, and I trust him implicitly.

He is the very picture of a Model O-Review Member.

With that said, I'm neither taking sides nor casting blame. I'm neutral, and will remain so until acted upon by outside forces. ;)

Terrorism and Ifynanceu,
Both of you have been awesome to me. I like you both. However, we need to stop the bickering. I understand you have issues with each other. This forum is an inappropriate medium for your argument, as it involves many of us that should not be privy to something so inherently personal and derogatory.

You are both at fault.

There is no prize for having the last word.

Please, let us continue in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood. Let's forget the past, and be decent in the future.
