With durable Plutonite® lens material and sturdy C-5 alloy, the bottom line on impact protection is that it needs no bottom line. So we invented a bottomless frame that expands your vertical view while still surpassing ANSI standards for high-velocity and high-mass impact resistance. Rendered with 150 tons of pressure and machined with the precision of Computer Numeric Control, the monolithic backbone of lightweight C-5 alloy is raked back to liberate peripheral vision. Custom engineered spring hinges and dual sizes of Unobtainium® nosebombs offer the comfort of a custom fit, and patented XYZ Optics® opens the boundary of lateral clarity.

Amazingly light, the frame colour is a lush, deep red and +Red lenses look great in any frame. They are suprisingly comfortable, no doubt due the light weight and use of unobtainium. Coverage at the bottom of the lens is a bit lacking but the rake coverage is excellent, the ideal all-day pair. The only thing preventing a 5 out of 5 is the lack of coverage allowing light to get through at the bottom but people with a smaller head (or puffier cheeks lol) might not notice such an issue so this is subjective I guess.

Stunningly comfortable, I agree with Terrors opinion about coverage though, the lenses aren't deep enough for a lot of faces so you get quite a bit of light through the bottom of the lenses.

The curve in the lenses actually make the most of the +red colour compared to a lot of lenses and the nosebombs make the Half Wire one of the most comfortable sunglasses, this combined with its extremely light weight and very comfy spring hinges makes them one of the best all-day sunglasses Oakley have ever made and the red oxide frame is simply stunning, best for small faces though.

This is something I got cuz I felt it was something I had to have. The titanium frame is so light that if it wasn't for the frame & lens being visible I would probaly forget I had them on. The spring hinge helps for comfort. It doesn't put any pressure at all. It closes just enough to stay on. Also, the unobtainium ear socks help keep them on. My only issue is that i should've purchased the xl lenses. Overall, this is a great pair.

Was issued these sunglasses in Iraq, and they were great for day to day wear when not chasing down Insurgents. They are the first pair of oakleys I have ever had fit perfectly. Coverage was perfect, they did not obstruct my view, and they had the perfect amount of darkness to the lenses for the bright desert sun. Also never had a problem with them slipping around or anything.

The Half Wire represented Oakley's entry into the semi-rimless sunglass market. Of the three color combos available upon release, this was my favorite since the +Red Iridium complimented the frame color very well. Highlights of the Half Wire included reduced weight due to the semi-rimless design as well as spring hinges for increased comfort. Unobtainium nosebombs and earsocks completed the shades, along with the accent of true metal icons. The only drawback was the somewhat limited eye coverage, so those with larger faces would probably opt for shades with a larger lens.
