Having seen both versions in person recently, I would say the C Six is not as bad as some of us collectors thought it was but not as great as what we had hoped it would be. It's not a classic, but it's a solid piece in the Oakley lineup.

I think those who see the full carbon fiber C Six in person will be most impressed with the milling work. The detail by Crosby Composites is outstanding. The milling also leaves a wood-like texture to the carbon fiber (reminds me of the texture on a Koston Frogskin) and also leaving a pattern that reminds me somewhat of a snakeskin. Good stuff.

While the full carbon fiber C Six demonstrates Oakley's/Crosby Composites' ability to work with carbon fiber, the Aluminum C Six demonstrates how cool its style could be.

Whereas the full CF C Six is a bland looking frame, the Aluminum C Six shines as an incredibly cool frame colour. The contrast between the silver aluminum and the black unobtainium and CF shows how exciting the frame is suppose to be. It looks like a frame the old wild Oakley would put out in their heyday. It's amazing how simply changing the frame colour(s) can alter the C Six's appearance. The full CF C Six looks like a regular Oakley product and, if you're not "in the know", you would not even recognize it if you passed it on the street. On the other hand, the contrast on the Aluminum C Six makes the frame seem futuristic, sci fi, and industrial at the same time. It's practically impossible to miss it.

I think the C Six is a decent product. When looking at it from a price/value perspective, its attractiveness definitely decreases. Some would say a product such as the C Six is exempt from such measurements, but that's another argument for another day.

Would I buy either of the C Six models with my own money knowing what I know now? Definitely not, but I’m grateful I got the chance to hold one in my hands.

I finally, after long consideration, bought myself a pair of C-Six, the aluminium/carbon fiber pair.
They were expensive as h**l, but the feeling i get when i see them and put them on... Wonderful!
They fit me very nicely and they look outstanding!
Not something i will wear regularily, but maybe for some special occation.
I you are thinking about getting a pair, and don't need to sell your kids to raise the money, GO AHEAD!

Soon as I heard about these I wanted to own a pair. While I was never a fan of CF to begin with, the touch of it on the Al ones was just enough and now I am a huge fan of CF in general. The look of these pair of glasses is incredible. My only real complaint as to why I gave it a four instead of a five, sans the price, are the lenses themselves. I purchased $1,500 glasses and they give you fairly lousy lenses. I would had loved to have VR28 black iridium polarised. But gray? Non-iridium? That is just plain silly.

The packaging was very well done. I did wish there was a coin, but the laser etched plate is cool enough. The Bluray disc while nicely produced, really didn't say anything at all. I was more hoping for those how its made videos this seemed like an infomercial style, or a PR thing. But I digress.

Do I think it is worth 1500 bucks? Not really. Am I glad I bought them? Yes. Heck yes!

Though some smaller details like using the standard elite bag, come on, they could had done something more special. Especially that there are only 1500 pairs!

But in all, they are fantastically beautiful glasses and I will be wearing them daily!

During the unboxing of the porduct alone, I was already wow-ed on how they packaged it. It's pretty heavy at almost 3 or 4 pounds casing and all total. The finish of the case has a black satin hue, very similar to that of the pitboss box. What I like about the case also is once it is sitting upright opened all the way, the elite Icon stands out pretty good. The laser etched signature plate pulls up for that added wow factor and also serves as the support for the top part of the case preventing it from closing. The little booklet beneath the signature plate is crafted nicely as well. The cover has an embossed elite icon.
I decided to display the micro bag (exact same one as the pitboss) and the blu-ray disc with case separate. The BD disc features how the C6 and TBII was made. Both segments really informative.

The glaases are secured by 2 garter-like starps and remains untouched up to this day as I still haven't put them on yet. (waiting for maybe New Year's hehehe) and becasue of this i cannot provide any feedback to the comfort and fit.

All in all, like what most people say it is waay too pricey and because of that fact, i'm giving 4/5 skulls.

In regards to the review above for not having owned the pair, it is hard to describe the feeling of opening your own box and putting them on whenever you want to. I am the proud owner of pair 56 of 1500, and spent 3 weeks debating the purchase back and forth. As a carbonfiber-aholic, with a performance car with at least 20 pieces of CF on it including bonnet, boot, front and rear lower spoilers, and one of only three upper spoilers in existence, as well as an avid CF watch collector and pay for all this out of my CF wallet with my Carbon Fiber Club Pole Position membership card inside, made out of 100% real carbon, you could say I love the futuristic stuff!

I wanted to find the time to write this out thoroughly, as the thrill of opening the case and putting these sunglasses on every time needs to be thoroughly detailed and explained. As crazy as I am about CF, it isn't as much the carbon part of these sunglasses that truly amazes me. I am more drawn to them because of the legacy involved, the passion for excellence, and the craftsmanship that went into each an every pair. They could have been made entirely out of aluminum and I would appreciate them just as much, but the carbon bits included make it that much more appealing, especially considering I've been dying to get my hands on a true pair of CF sunglasses that aren't as gaudy as those junk Ray-Bans (sorry Luxotica, that brand isn't my bag). While the full carbon frames are out of reach financially for me at this point, the aluminum and CF ones were not, though I spent the 3 weeks previously mentioned debating this purchase because I wanted to be fully committed to these, or forget about them all together. I had the gracious staff at Oakley in the Florida Mall in Orlando, FL hang on to them during this time, and they obliged; they didn't mind because hell, no one else, not even tourists, in Orlando would be crazy enough to spend that kind of money on these sunglasses.... except me!

The smell of recently machined aluminum, the texture of the 75 layers of carbon fiber on the stems, and the elegance of the double hinge are a drug to me that rush through my mind when I go to grab them from the box. There is no such thing as buyer's remorse when you take these home and stare at them for a good long while. You'll be certain you made the right choice, and should you find them available to purchase and are financially capable of getting a pair, I would have no hesitation in saying GO FOR IT!
