Family: Backpacks
Date: 2006

A good pack should be lightweight but durable enough to stand up to mistreatment, even by Mother Nature. It should have plenty of storage options to keep things organized. And it should make life easier with extras like a pocket for your mobile phone and a port for your headphone cable. We put it all in the FIFTY PACK and even added grommet venting, breathable mesh on the back panel, a foam-filled handle and external webbing for attaching Oakley accessories. Import.

I love this bag. I got it in the New Khaki. It was the only color left in the store when I got mine. I love that I can carry a LOT in this bag. I'm a college student and I usually carry about 1-2 textbooks, a notebook, a pair of shoes, and my workout clothes. Yes, all this in this little backpack!! And I love the media compartment for some extra storage for my Ipod and speakers. There is also a small "hidden storage compartment" that is nice for personal things you don't want anyone to find. Awesome bag for the price!!

Only Oakley could, or even would take something as regular as as an average backpack and make it so cool. Plenty of room and plenty of compartments for whatever you need to put in it and you'll look great wearing it. It's also very affordable - so if you're looking for just a regular backpack, this is the one to get.

I just bought one of this bag in infrared. It was like love at first sight. Looks nothing fancy, but I like the plain look. It's quite big and has comfortable wide shoulderpads. My favorite bag.
After a few days after purchase I found a "secret" pocket on the back, where you can hide some smaller, important things (i.e. money or ID card).

I got this bag in Japan shortly after it was released in February. The 'Fifty' in the name actually refers to its price-point in US dollars, though it set me back about 7000 yen there. I suppose they call it the Nana-sen Pakku?

In any case, I've used this bag regularly for three months in Australia for my daily university activities, which involves lugging around several thick legislation textbooks. The light weight along with the padding on the back and shoulder straps helps immensely in this regard.

The main compartment is what I call a 'Giant Pocket'; it can fit a reasonable amount of items, such as the fat 2006 Corporation and Master Tax Guides, a few notes and a thin folder. Considering how thick these textbooks are (they can probably stop a bullet), I'd consider the capacity to be pretty large and spacious.

The front pocket actually encompasses the whole front of the bag, though its just empty space above the portion you normally make use of. Here, there are two mesh pockets with Velcro closures, four shotgun loops in a vertical line and a lanyard on the right-hand side.

There are two side pockets with mesh webbing, and you can fit a 600ml bottle or a foldable umbrella in these. A bullet-style Vault can fit as well; it accommodates my X Metal Soft Vault nicely.

On the back, there is access to a zipped, padded compartment near the top of the bag, its use identified by a small PVC icon of an iPod. It's a bit larger than your average CD player, so anything smaller than that would be a good fit. If you do so choose to use it, the earphones/remote of your music player can pass through a small hole through the main compartment and out the front from the black PVC port.

Still on the back, there is also one compartment hidden in the lower portion of the mesh padding (it was so well hidden such that I found it a whole month from when I bought it). It does not expand much, so you can only store a few small or thin items that you might not want other people to know you have.

There's a compartment on the left shoulder strap, its use signified by a small PVC icon of a mobile phone. Similar to the side pockets, this also has mesh webbing although you cannot zip the compartment closed when occupied. I don't like it, personally; I think one would be better off with the new cell phone case attached to the D Ring on the right shoulder strap (EDIT: the new Cell Phone Case will not fit on the shoulder strap due to the orientation of the Cell Phone Case's snap closure... a bit disappointing).

All in all, the bag does its job pretty well, considering its relatively low price. I do wish the design was more over-the-top like the Kitchen Sink or SI Computer Bag, but who am I to complain considering, how much it costs? The Black version does have red stitching all around, which kind of makes up for it.

If you need a simple no-frills bag, then this is for you.
