Frame: Platinum
Lens: Oakley Clear Rx
I bought a pair of nos O1 rx frames a couple of years ago and brought them in to Foothill Ranch for a pair of prescription lenses. I was hesitant to stop wearing my O5s but I experimented with the finished O1s every now and then, eventually switching to the O1s full time, just to do something different. The O1s were a little small, 48-19, but they flexed enough and widened enough to get a comfortable fit. There's some flex and give in these frames but they deal with daily use and abuse very well. The hinges are strong and nicely sculpted. There's just enough "Oakley" in the fluid lines of these glasses that people notice you're wearing something different but it's very subtle. Even more subtle are the tiny "intake port" indentations on the stems. They're almost subliminal. The O1 has a thinner structure than the O5 and it's a little more vulnerable to bending. The translucent earsocks are a great feature and they allow the Platinum finish to "glow" through the Unobtainium. The earsocks don't have a symmetrical thickness so make sure they're turned thin-side out!
Frame: Pewter
Lens: Clear RX
Nice RX frame for people like me with strong prescriptions. The small lens size and oval shape kept my RX lenses from getting too thick at the edges. Like all Oakley frames, these are quite strong and well-built. I've been wearing mine at night (I wear contacts during the day so I can wear my Oakley sunglasses) every day for almost two years without any problems. The ear socks do a great job helping to keep these on my face since I have a flat nose. The overall fit of this frame is snug, so it is probably best for those with small heads/faces. It would be nice if Oakley made a version of these with spring hinges for added comfort.
