Really started the craze. When I saw it I couldn't believe he was wearing Juliets let alone Rubys. I was like, that's cool, I have a pair of Juliets too. Pretty creative of them to use the Juliets on cyclops instead of some other more normal style of shades.

The Ruby lenses released as also lighter than the actual prop used in the movie. The ones in movie were such a deep tint of red that the actor got headaches after an hour or two and lost the ability to distinguish red from other colors, so they would have been dangerous to drive with.

As further information, the first 5,000 of the ruby juliets for "X-men" are the limited edition version released for the movie, while the first 1,000 of the ruby pennies were the limited versions for "X2". Nowadays the ruby juliets sport serial numbers with "J" prefixes.

The Ruby lens was released after it had appeared in X-Men. Slightly modified though. The Ruby Juliet was sold to us as the style used in X-Men but they left off the blinders he had at the hinges in he movie.

The visor itself was also designed by Oakley for the film. There were some kick ass concepts for it too before they settled on what we saw.

Oakley had a mini site and everything to go with this release. They even sent out free 20" x 40" (roughly) heavy stock posters of the Cyclops promoting the visor. I have mine.
