I was hesitant... Hesitant because of the Acetate frame. Hesitant because all the previous frames released using this material have scored lower marks in my book than o-matter frames. Particularly in the women's line, but then again, I am not out there wearing them so my opinions only lie in trying them on and handling the frames for others. That, and in the performance of this material in non-Oakley brands. Needless to say based on my rating all my issues were put to rest when I came face to face with the Jupiter LX.

From the early list of colorways matching classic Frogskins to finally seeing a few "sneak peak" images to not finding them at Hollywood O the week of release I couldn't wait to get my hands on what we knew would turn out be the modern Frogskin. Years and years of re-envisioning, turning one style into a family of styles and now full circle. The Jupiter LX is a streamlined and contemporary update to a style that everyone loved at one point in their life. I never imagined I'd wear a Frogskin again let alone anything modeled after it, but this past year's barrage of rereleases left me wanting more and more is now at hand.

The frame follows the contours of the original Frogskin using what is a near identical nose bridge and lens shape while edging the frame's orbitals off with an angled square cut against the round lens leading up to a wider wayfarer styled stem that throws this frame past the 80s back to the 50s and 60s. The hinge is accented with a large metal band that is becoming a common design element in quite a few O styles of late. This doubles as the stem attached half of the hinge mechanism with the first half anchored into the orbitals. Not to puss out with a simple 2/3 small screw hinge Oakley has gone large with a 4/3 fit long screw hinge that adds a well built, solid feel to what tends to be the weak point in similar styles. Lastly these are now topped off with the Square O to show where the evolved style now resides in Oakley hierarchy.

For the Jupiter LX, the style comes off looking larger, but actually feels a bit smaller than the Frogskin. In part, I believe this is due to the acetate frame materials stiffness and earstems that angle slightly inward when open. The frame itself flexes and fits very well and acetate can take some heat to widen it up if larger headed O-Reviewers were looking to get into a pair.

I def recommend this to all who missed the modern Frogskin or simply passed over the modern Frogskins.

Saw them on sale and picked up one. It's much better than my regular Jupiter. It felt so much more solid thanks to metal hinge and acetate frame. I can hang them on my cloth when not in use and i find it more resistant to scratch compare to o matter.

These are excellent! I've recently gotten into the retro styled glasses, as they're relatively cheap and do the job. This was my 12th pair of shades to date, and I love them! They fit my Asian face really really well, which is quite surprising to me. The wrap is just enough, and the acetate arms make it really easy to get the perfect fit around my head. These are extremely cheap right now, so I suggest you grab some before they're gone!

The Jupiter LX is a really solid pair of sunglasses with a lot of style. Like others, I like these because they have a retro look with a little bit of modern flare that sets you apart from every other hipster out there wearing the typical Ray-Ban wayfarers. Overall, I'm a fan of the acetate frames. Even though they are a bit on the heavy side, they aren't uncomfortable at all and don't really leave too much of a red mark on your nose like some heavy frames can. What I really like about the acetate frame and strong hinges is that it feels bomb-proof...definitely a durable frame that will last a long time (if you think the regular Jupiter feels flimsy, then this is the frame for you). It took me a while to get used to these both in terms of how they look on me (I'm used to the wrap-around styles, but wanted something more timeless and stylish) and the peripheral vision (I'm also used to rimless frames like the Flak Jacket). Finally, the lenses are awesome as always; I love Oakley's grey polarized lenses. I just wish these had an Iridium coating so your eyes were more hidden (not a huge deal though since Iridium would have taken away from the clean, classic look that I think Oakley was going for with these shades). One final note: the Polarized models come with a really nice faux-leather hard vault case...really nice bonus! Overall these are great shades, I highly recommend them to anyone wanting the classic Wayfarer or Frogskin look with a bit more edge.

I got these because I'm a fan of Shaun White. The color combination is nice and the inside design is cool even though you can only see it when you take them off. Only complaint is that its smaller than the O Matter Jupiter.

very Rarely do glasses reach out and grab me when I try them on. More out of a curiosity than anything, I tried these on at the local vault store on Sunday, and was back to buy them on Monday. I was immediately struck by the cleaner, more classic (think original Wayfarers) lines when compared to the original Frogskins. The fit is tighter than the original and the finish is nicer. There is more heft to these frames and feel less like a "Cracker Jack" prize than the Frogskins. The Frogskins looked silly on me, these looked normal, I dare even say, good, on me.

The fit of the glasses is much tighter and there is better coverage, although not as good as other models. So, there's still some peripheral that is not covered, but there is a lot less peripheral exposed than which is exposed with the Frogskin.

My only complate is the +Red of my lenses are dark blue almost all pruple with NO red hue at all. I guess it's the batch.

We'll see how these work out in the long term and I'll write something again. Oakley did a great job with updating a classic style.

I first wanted to check out the Jupiter LX because I had a pair of the regular Jupiters, I liked them, and I liked the feel of the Ray Ban Wayfarers, just not the style. The original colorways struck me as boring, but as soon as the Shaun White colorway was released, I knew I had to get them. I absolutely love these shades. The look is a lot like the Frogskins, but with a modern Oakley twist. The +Red Iridium used on these is true to the standard (unlike the "+red" used on the Shaun White Frogskins) and the pattern on the inside is awesome, its a lot more subtle when the sunglasses are actually on your head.

These sunglasses may LOOK very oakley, but they feel like no other Oakleys I have ever worn. The Acetate frame and metal hinges make these sunglasses MUCH heavier than regular o-matter frames, as well as quite a bit stiffer. They also feel extremely durable - I can tell that these will last years and years. The two stripes on the icons are a cool touch as well. I just wish there were a few more colorways for these sunglasses, especially more in keeping with the original Frogskins (yellow/violet!!!!!!!)

If you think that Frogskins are too on your head or that they aren't edgy enough, these are the sunglasses for you.

Well I just picked up a pair and can't believe how comfortable they are. Very smooth and the color is amazing. I am wondering how many they are planning on releasing and if the number on the inside of the frame is the serial number. I'd appreciate a little info if anyone can help. These are super glasses. I picked up a pair yesterday, they feel great, love the stiff metal hinges and the contoured ear stems. I do wish they had black iridium lenses, but the grey is classic. I am a fan of the OG Frogskins and I think these will be a nice complement to my collection.
