Incredible! Sunglasses that actually fit properly! I don't normally bother to write reviews, but all the reviews on this site helped me pick my sunglasses, so I thought I'd contribute.

Regular sunglasses, and eyeglasses for that matter, usually slide down my nose, and/or sit too close to my face due to the common Asian nosebridge issue. So when I heard about Oakley's "Asian fit" sunglasses, I knew I had to give them a try.

Tried the regular half jackets in a store -- the fit was not terrible actually, but not 100%. I decided to just go for it and ordered a custom pair of the "Asian fit" version. They were expensive, but worth the money if you want something really nice. And it was such a good feeling to have a pair of sunglasses that fits so well and so comfortably. (Would recommend the customization route so long as you're sure you won't need to return the sunglasses -- it is not much more expensive, and you get to pick out the frame color, the lens color, the "ear socks" color, etc., so you get exactly what you want).

According to the Oakley rep I spoke with at the time I ordered, and in light of my own observations, the Asian fit version of these sungalsses are not at all different from the regular version, except in one key respect: the nosebridge is slightly different -- narrower, I believe, and larger "nosebombs" are provided. The large nosebombs do the trick quite nicely.

Also, the titanium iridium lenses are great -- reflective, although not 100% so, and a very nice, subtle bronze color. I bought these for biking, running, and going to the beach when it is quite sunny, and they should be perfect. Can't wait for it to get sunny again so I can wear them.

The Asian fit versions are indeed different, but only subtly so that it's difficult to tell without taking measurements. In fact the lens from the Traditional Fit will not go into Asian Fit frames (I've tried). Don't let your optometrist tell you otherwise because most don't know, but all the Asian Fit frames have slightly narrower nose bridges, slightly less curved frames and larger nose pads.

Does anyone here know what the typical time frame is as to when the Asian Fit versions come out after a new Traditional Fit version is released?

Thanks,
Joe

My first pair of Oakleys, after search and try various others models like gascan, minute, i buy this one,it´s so comfortable, fit so well and also very lightweight, that sometimes i just don´t feel them on my face, the extra pair of nosebombs do the job, i try both and the big ones fit better to me.

The design reminds me other 2 models, the Mframe and twenty, don´t know why, but that era (2001-2005) was for me one of the best in terms of design and creativity, today Oakley still the best, and will never be different.

The lenses (black iridium)are so strong, providing a great protection, but the only negative point is that lenses are not so effective in low light conditions.

I love these glasses and I love the variety of different lenses you can choose from. These are my first pairs of Oakley's, and definitely not my last.

the half jacket frame is very light and durable, i have at one instance placed it in my pants pocket and accidentally bumped on a table. i was surprised to see that the frame was unscathed although the lens came off. re-installing and removing the lens was just a breeze. the asian fit is really great for people with small nose bridges (like me), the main difference when wearing an asian fit and the standard fit is that you will feel the the glasses hang on to your nose bridge and not on your cheeks (if you've tried the standard fit).
the polarized ice iridium lens looks great. it looks as if it's a black lens but if your under the sun the blue tone is visible (but not visible to the wearer). the polarized lenses really performed very well in reducing the glare (here in the blistering sun of the saudi arabian desert).

My first pair of Asian Fit Half Jackets. After having been through at least six pairs of normal fit ones, I finally get my hands on an AF pair and the difference is subtle, yet remarkable. It actually looks better on my face, without the nosebridge protruding outward by just a bit too much, and with the frame width a little flatter than normal fit HJ, to ensure a better wrap and a better look. With the normal HJs it looked a little like I had a beak on my nose when wearing them, no joke.

I used to think AF on the HJs and FJs were just the larger nosebombs (normal fit ones also come with two sizes of nosebombs, anyway). But it's the frame differences (check out the Oakley webpage on "what is Asian fit?") coupled with the large nosebombs that make AF really suited to Asian-shaped faces, like mine.

Only con here is that the earstem width on AF Half Jackets are made wider, thus not gripping my head as tightly as normal fit HJs both when I prop them up on my head, and when wearing them normally. But then again, my last pair of normal fit HJs gave me a bit of a headache when I wore them as a hairband for too long, haha.

All in, the mating of the Half Jacket's legendary usability, Asian Fit and the great combo from this Polished Aluminum and Titanium Iridium combo makes me give this pair 5 skulls.

i actually like these better than the new Flak jackets because the frame is not as bulky. besides M frames i think these are the best fitting sports shades for me by Oakley.

An absolute monster seller here in Japan. The best stocked Oakley dealers in Tokyo have double and triple wides chalk full of Half Jackets. They are crazy for golf here obviously, and they equate the HJ with being the best all-round sunglasses for the sport. I honestly think this particuar pair of Oakleys has done more for Oakley in Japan than all other models combined. Obviously, Oakley agrees since there is such a wide range of color options available in the Asian fit.

I bought these shades after being sick of struggling to find a pair that would fit on my Asian nose-bridgeless face. I never though I'd be spending over, say, $50, but I decided to give the Oakley store down in SoHo NYC a visit anyway. I'd known all the models that I'd wanted to try from the website, so I asked, and most of the times knew at once whether or not they would work. Monster Dog was a good shape/fit for me, but the lack of Unobtanium worried me. Bottlecap didn't work. Gascans didn't work. Hated the M-frame.

The Half Jackets, however, were completely different. The bigger "Asian" nosebombs really do make a world of difference, and they looked great too. I fell for the Fire lenses the first time I saw them.

In the end, it came down to a stock Jet Black/Smoke lens option,($105 and returnable) vs the Matte Black and Fire lens option ($130, BTO, and nonreturnable). After fifteen or so minutes of deliberation, I went with the second and haven't looked back.

i always wanted a pair of Half Jackets, i'd love the idea of having a pair of Oakleys that can act like a chameleon. the Half Jacket's earstems look great as well. i was hoping the Asian Fit version would finally fit me, but unfortunately they don't. i have reason to believe the Asian Fit Half Jacket is essentially the same as the regular versions except for larger nosebombs. regular nosebombs are included as well.
