Looking for some guidance. I am going to start selling off alot of my Oakley Collection, and not sure what some of the frames are worth.

I have a midnight/24K gold Eye Jacket 2.0 for example. I can post pics, but any ideas on what they go for on the used market?

Thanks in advance for any help...I'm at a loss on some of the older model's values.

Thanks,

I agree, that is mighty cool of you. My blood trenchcoats were my first pair of Oakleys...and they sit in my small cube on their own shelf w/ the original metal vault I bought for them back in '95. I broke them several times over the years and they went in for service more than once.

Now they are too dear to me to dare wear anymore. They sit with my other classics like the Topcoat (talk about fragile earstems!), my Colbalt +Red original Eye Jackets, my 24K Eye Jacket 2.0s, and my Gen 1 E-Wires in the "classic's" cube.

Even though I sometimes still want to wear my trenchcoats I leave them be...they gave me quite a few years of service and deserve to be sitting up top and center in my collection. They were a good friend and what started the entire obsession many years ago!

It looked like the icon was raised, ie the original SJ's...now I'm not quite sure....I was looking for an original not the new...I have the new in 3 colorways already, lol...if only I had them in front of me doh!

I guess it is hard to tell from the pic...but I jumped on them quickly cause I thought they looked like the original raised icon and were listed as original, granted I should of checked it out more before bidding.

Oh well...I'll post some pics of them when I get them and we'll see what I've got. Lesson learned I guess right? ;)

Ok, I admit it...I was so eager to add an original pair of Straight Jackets to my Jacket collection that I didn't research the color combo.

Of course AFTER winning the auction, I don't see this color listed on the site...so do you guys think I just bought some fakes?

If so, they are obviously not going into the tower! :(

Anyone have ideas on where to find a pair of these older frames besides of course listing a WANTED add in the classifieds? I've been looking on eBay for awhile now and have yet to see any there...

Trying to add to my vintage collection. I'm working on getting an original pair of straight jackets as we speak, lol...I wish they were Blood but beggers can't be choosers! ;)

Any leads or help appreciated...was at my local vault today but only thing they had older was New Straight Jackets and XX's which of course I had to pick up a couple more pairs of to add to the collection. ;)

Does anyone know if Oakley ever released any signature edition Monster Doggles?

Also any info on removing the icons and painting them a different color?

Just thought I'd share my excitement...I scored a pair of vintage Black on Black Topcoats off eBay today! :)

My first pair of Oakleys were my Blood Trenchcoats...I wore those bad boys out...had them in a couple times for repairs and after replacing one of the ear stems for a third time retired them to be the centerpiece of my collection and for display only, along with their Vault case both circa 1995.

Anyways, I never bought a pair of Topcoats back when they were released, but have been keeping an eye out for the past couple years looking for one to add to my collection.

I'm stoked...that plus the Black / Grey Doggles that lionel here is hooking me up with to complete that collection made for a great beginning to the Xmas week! :)

Here's a shot of my single tower that I was finally able to get my hands on a couple weeks ago...again off eBay...It's been an Oakley-ish holiday season at our house!!!

My wife also gave me an early xmas present after I got the tower...sort of a commemorative addition to the collection...a pair of OU Sooners Collegiate Twenties! There is multiple meanings to having them in the collection.

1. I am an OU fan (Ohio State first but OU Sooners in the Big 12)
2. Our new pup "Oakley"s official registered AKC name (that I got to pick) is "Selton's Sooner in Shades"...my wife came up with the idea, and it just sounded too perfect!

She was going to take a pic of him with the shades on but I told her we should wait till he is older and a bit calmer, lol...I don't want them ruined just to get the shot!

That sucks since they were seen in the cycling scene as early as THIS July...so a full year from their release date! :(

Oh well, something to put on the wish list for Summer '09 then! ;)

Thought I'd share something I've been meaning to post for a couple months now.

Ever since I started collecting Oakleys almost 15 years ago I have wanted to have a dog named Oakley. I'm sure many others have had the same idea since Jim Jannard named the company after his English Setter. I have had multiple dogs over the years, but was waiting / reserving the name for if I ever were to get MY "dream" dog, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog.

Fast forward many years, having to put several dogs down, a divorce, and a new marriage w/ a spouse that was not only dog friendly (compared to my ex) but also wanting me to achieve my dream of owning a Swissy...

Last year we were on a waiting list for a Greater Swiss with 2 breeders and both shots fell through. We ended up getting a St. Bernard puppy instead and named him Buckeye (after OSU of course!) and put the Swissy on hold. Then early this year we started the process again and again were on a litter's waiting list but only to come up short once again. We finally scored with another breeder in our state (there is only 2 breeders in MI for this breed) and were able to secure a male pup...I was pretty specific that I didn't want a female...it had to be a male pup to bear the name Oakley IMO. Anyways late Sept one of my dreams finally came true and we added Oakley to our family!

The breeder decided the theme for this litter was going to be "The Oklahoma Litter" since the sire was located there. One of the perks of buying a pure breed is that you get to come up with the official AKC registered name. Since I grew up in OK and am a Sooner's fan I decided to make his official name "Selton's Sooner in Shades" which fit in well with Oakley as his call name. I can't take all the credit though since my wife came up with it, lol... ;)

After we brought him home...

A couple pics taken back in Oct...

A pic of my oldest daughter with Oakley on Turkey day:

I've had plans for a custom Oakley collar made out of an Oakley lanyard for him while he's a pup...and long term one made out of an Oakley belt buckle and webbing.

A shot of an adult Swissy:

Title says it all...and I'm betting these will be in their Custom lineup since it's so ripe for mixing and matching colors...

The funny thing was many of the vaults I called around the country, the salesperson answering the phone either didn't know what I was talking about or kept thinking I meant Monster Goggles...lol...even after I kept saying NO Doggles! As in D in DOG...lol...

Or they'd say, yea we have the Monster Dogs...and I'd say, NO I'm looking for Doggles..lol...a couple even thought they were the same thing!

Good thing I wasn't asking for Topcoats, Tens or my favs....Trenchcoats...lol...

Well I just spent 3 hours calling around to all the Oakley Vaults in the US. Yep every single one...trying to find the last colorway of the Doggle line that would complete my collection...to no avail!

I have every colorway EXCEPT Polished Black w/ Grey lenses and have been watching eBay and checking stores for months without any luck...so I decided to start calling around.

I found only 2 stores in the country that even had a Polished Black w/ Gold lenses...so I then called Oakley warranty and was told that if I shipped them a pair they'd swap out the lenses for the Grey ones that they have in Warranty but not available on their website. Of course I thought GREAT! Until I thought about the gold icon on the earstems also needing to be swapped...argh!!

Anyway I call back to both stores (different states) and figured screw it, I'll just buy both pairs of Polished / Gold and figure something out...and what do I find? They won't ship to me or to my local vault! Crap! :(

To top it off I found that both of the stores also had Black Iridium lenses that were marked down to $15 so I started thinking of making a custom pair of Polished Black / Black Iridium and keeping all the original colorways in my tower for display only...but so far that's just a pipe dream.

I can't believe this color combo is so hard to find...I'd think it would of been the most produced. My wife is just happy I haven't gotten the bug to complete the Monster Dog line, because that has a ton more color combos than the Doggles, lol...

I'm hoping for a orange based frame color finally...something like a burnt orange with a texture...almost like a Cinder Red but just an orange base.

Other than that I'd say a Doggle 2.0 would be sweet!

Jason, & Ed.

In regards to Sun Vision in the FP Mall they not only went out of business but also boned customers that had put money down to order in glasses. A friend of mine received a paid of XX's for xmas from his wife. Oddly enough she got him the same pair that he already had! So he went down to where she bought them (Sun Vision) and they took them back and gave him a store credit towards a different pair. He decided on Half Jackets, Black w/ Black Iridium lenses. They didn't have them in stock and told him they would order in a pair, and even gave him a receipt.

After waiting a week and not hearing anything back, he tried to call only to find out their # was disconnected. He then went to the mall and found their kiosk was empty. He talked with the Mall officials and they had said a number of people were complaining that the Sun Vision place owed them money. He filed a complaint with the BBB and also one with Channel 11 news call for action, but in the end he was out the $125ish bucks w/o any glasses to show for it.

I told him to call Oakley customer service and explain the situation as I've had awesome help with them in the past. He did and explained that he not only had the original receipt but also the exchange/credit receipt to order in the new pair. Oakley said there was nothing they could do, and wouldn't even give him a discount towards a new pair.

So I guess it pays to buy from reputable shops, and to keep the merchandise you plan on exchanging until you have the new pair in hand. ;)
