SJ 1 was freakin huge..Simple as that. New SJ was more streamlined in shape, fit way better, had great coverage, and was perfect. The New SJ II is oddly shaped, arms aren't as comfortable, and seems like an oversized minute vs. a SJ. Just my observations having owned them all and was a HUGE fan of the 1st 2. I really liked the 2nd variation, but the new one doesn't do anything for me at all.

The original SJ also had huge, embossed O icons on the arms, where the New SJ had the metal icon.

In terms of size, the original SJ had a large overhang off of the corners of medium sized heads while still having the lenses close to the eyes, while the new SJ was fit somewhat better.

The 2007 New SJ, while having excellent fitment to just about everyone's head, is more or less reuse of an existing and well known name, as the frame bears little resemblance in terms of styling to the late 90's to early 2000's SJs.

I just bought a pair on eBay that were labeled "Straight Jacket II". I was thinking they were slightly different from the Straight Jackets that are currently shown on Oakley's web site, but the more I compare them the more I think they're exactly the same.

So let me get this straight...

Even though mine are called "Straight Jacket II", they are actually 3rd generation, correct?

The style Hulk Hogan wears are called "New Straight Jacket" and are 2nd generation:

The 1st generation is the one labeled "Original" here:

I really like the ones I have. They look like a morph between Monster Dogs and Pups, which are the two I couldn't decide between. They're perfect!

Not sure what I think about Hulk Hogan defining the 2nd gen SJ ... but what everyone has said is pretty much correct.

If you see or have all 3, there really isn't much confusion. The SJ has been tormented by lack of name changes over the generations, but is no where near as complicated as those pesky zeros.

How about this: 1st Gen is awesome and had the best colorways. 2nd Gen is more streamlined and had chrome and flames. 3rd Gen is what we see today.
