Any one have idea of the best/worst margin for Oakley? I know that the Monster Dog was quick to the market, so you would think there is large margin there. In the opposite direction, Romeo had a price increase after they 1st came out... So think that could be the high and low, but any one know for sure?

There were some speculative production cost figures in a previous thread a long, long time ago, but I don't know where it is anymore. My guess would be, for an O Matter, it would be 50% markup to the retailer. So if on an $80, I would figure it to be something like this: $3 for the frame, $2 for misc and overhead, $6 to recoup and profit off of R&D, and $9 for marketing.

I think that would be somewhere in the ballpark. Think of this. A retailer like BackCountry.com won't take a loss on an item, but we've all bought Oakley's from them at like $30 and $40. So the $35 Montefrios probably ran them $25 a piece...a slight profit. Maybe $10 to produce and market per pair.
