In the madness that was the acquisition and installation of my doublewide, I've lost the keys to it. I know that I can buy new locks at any hardware store, but how can I remove the current locks while the doors are closed and locked?

they flex...is it the little brass key?? If so, go to the locksmith and tell him you need a single sided key for a cam lock key #c415a. you can also go to the top of tha cabinet, remove the 8 bolts, and lift the top a bit...Be careful though. Just tap it up enough to get the door open. They are very common locks and keys. my local locksmith has tons of them

If worse comes to worse, you can ask one of the members to make a copy of their key for you. I know that my mega keys work for all cases other than the cube.

Well, I have a single sided brass key that opens my two shelf cube and medicine cabinet, and another single sided brass one that opens my single tower with the drawers in the bottom.

There us also a double sided key that opens my mega tower. The keys that came with the double wide were single sided, but neither of the other two that I have will open it...

loosen the top, knock it up just a bit, open the doors, pop a lock out, and have the locksmith match new locks to the other towers so the keys are universal. Run about $6 per lock...Same locks in many coin op video games, pinball machines, etc.

BE CAREFUL if you pop the top up. I took the top of two of mine off because I was swapping out plexi-glass pieces and it was a HUGE effort getting hte bolts back in. I also scratched a few of them up in the process.

that's why I say tap it up enough to get the doors to open. The stops aren't in that deep, but they aren't too tough. I had mine apart a few times and you just have to be patient and not rush it...

Gotcha. Will tapping the top up a bit also allow me to lift the doors enough to get the locks in the bottom of the doors free as well?

shouldn't be an issue. You can get plenty of room without it falling apart, but just take your time. You can also get a door to "bend" or "flex" and they will pop too, but that is a comfort level you need to have to do...I have done it without cracking or busting anything, but I am not afraid to do it...HAHA

hahaha...you crazy bastage...I'll go home and work on it this evening. I'm not too worried about cracking the doors, plexi isn't too expensive.

From my experience, most displays use the same key / lock. Perhaps you can borrow a key from someone?
