I need a new bag for hiking, and would prefer it to have a 17"laptop sleeve for times I'm not. My options seem to be the Surf Pack 3.0 and AP 2.0.

I like the styling of the AP 2.0 bag much better, but I'm worried that the metal parts are going to clank when I walk (like my SI Laptop and the Kitchen Sink bag I had). It's quite annoying and I couldn't see hiking for miles on end with that metal-on-metal noise. Can anyone confirm that this does or does not happen with the AP 2.0?

Mine makes no clanking sounds.

That is good news, I guess they fixed whatever issues there were with the first gen of hardware then.

If it does clank, you could wrap the loop in electrical tape like i did to fix my ap sandbag's clanking

Yeah thats true, but its like, buy a $140 bag I have to fix, but like better; or save $40 and buy a more functional, less attractive bag... I'll give it a go on Zappos I guess and just return it if I have to.
