hey..some members know how i am..german oakley fanatic engineering student.. ;)
i noticed that here are not really much threads about the mag switches (in comparison to the x_metals)..maybe because there are a hand full of little probs with this lovely glasses..(too strong frame, nearly impossible to change lenses :(..(correction?-->would be my dream)..lacquer...)
also i recognized that on the mag switch, are little differences: possible cause: production date?:
for example: i have got two of this glasses.one dark carbide-blk iridium and on ti copper-ice iridium (my first)..i determindes that on the ti-copper the lacquer has got a worsed_case level..2nd: on their lenses, there is an another "colour-playing" in comparison to another ice iridium lenses for example: the splice ice lenses are more "ice'y" (?)..my own has got a little gold/green/light blue touch...3rd and worsed: the closed bow's contact the frontely inside-sides of the frame and from time to time, there's no more ti-copper :(
my second mag switch..,the DarkCarbide_blk iridium one, is nearly perfect: the lacquer is more³ resistent! best new feature are the little magnesium buttons on the other side of the "o-logo" on baw's, who prevent that the baw contact the inside of the front-frame-part..(very nice)..third difference and very in german "decadent" and so oakley like is the signature of "magnesium" on the left lense (compare: ducati/polarized)...
who noticed another differences?
another last statement/little_question offtopic..how do would to qualify my english? :) ..i am suprised in front of your answers
i love the spring_hinges and the nosely part of the frame
i hope my other mag switch fans are enjoed about this post
so i love this glasses..it's the connection between the omatter and xmetals on a wundeful another level
greetings from rainy germany

Love my mag switch, Pearl/fire iridium.

Really I havn't noticed any defects in my glasses other then general chipping on the tips (shown like in your pictures) from general wear and tear. Not a big deal.

I wished more people enjoyed these because maybe they would still be available.

I really want a pair in black with fire lenses (non exsisten).

If they weren't so rare I would love to wear them everyday.

I just got a pair of pearl fire, brand spanking new.

After taking a good while looking at them, I'd say that they are one of oakley's finest pairs ever made, they are unbeleivably light and have just enough detail to not be over the top, and are plain enough to be subtle (apart from the colour)

I can see them pushing my juliets off the top spot as my favourite pair infact, everyone wears juliets but i've not seen many people in mags,

I think the new x-metals should go in this direction, squared off to fall in with the current trend with gascan etc but tweaked with spring hinges and more colours, anodised frames etc with a similar finish to the 24k xx's would be sweet.

If the problem with the coating was sorted i think these would have held up as much as the juliets, or even polished up like ollies pond/g26 pair....

Mhm, back then when I had a pair (grey/ice switch with the ugly coating problem) I thought they are pretty heavy for a mag pair - do you have a comparison with a wire, o-matter or a x-metal?

Thanks!

I somewhat agree with Darren. What turned me on to Oakley was the pearl with fire mag switch. I think it was 7 yrs ago when I first saw one in a bicycle shop and immediately said to myself "I gotta have me one of those". After getting the switch is when I saw the Juliets and drooled over them too. So my top 2 all time favs are the juliet and mag switch. Which one is my number 1 and 2, I still dont know but the potential color fading on the switch does scare me

mmmm I have to agree that while in my opinion they're not as stand-out oakley as the x-metal range I still feel the design aspect is still awesome (I like the common feature of the riveted nosebridge it seems to work well with the switches) thought I'd try my hand with a g26 as well as seeing how a 24k xmetal version may look
