I'm going to start this here before I open it up to everyone. I implemented a wiki structure which will allow open edits to anything Oakley. It won't replace the db, since that's mainly for it's strict structure, but this may allow more info for things that wouldn't normally fit. Plus it takes the burden of me somewhat and that's always good.

Feel free to add to it if you get a chance. I'd like to flesh it out before it goes public. Reduce the amount of things people can go crazy and post stupidly on.

Oh crap, I was playing with the preferences and chose one of the other layouts and it gave me this error:

Error in an included style sheet

now I cant access it at all.

Clear your cookies if that happens. I need to either fix that one or ommit it. I'll get on it.

Here's some tips to avoid some frustration.

Most of the editing, can be done in the toolbar provided, such as Bold, Centering etc...

Links are the tricky part. You could create a page, then link to it, but I've found it safer to create the link and then use the '?' near the name to then add the content.

The easiest way to create a link it to just run the words together. Like if you want to make a link to a page abour Fire Iridium, you'd just type FireIridium in the page, and it will automatically link. Words with multiple capital letters will be separated. You can also put them in brackets like FireIridium. If you want to just link the word Fire with the page, you can give it the true page, but a different word to link it. Like FireIridium Fire. Fire will show up underlined and link to the Fire Iridium page.

This is nice when it works, but some things won't follow this scheme. Single words won't be recognized, so you need to put them in double brackets to force them to be linked. Like [Juliet] To assign this a new name, you need to use the pipe '|', like [[Splice | Page on Splice Glasses]] This also needs to be used for words with two capitol letters next to each other. OMatter won't work, so we need to use [O Matter]. Same with words with numbers and other characters. [X-Metal] [Zero 0.6] etc...

Very cool. I went through a few items and changed minor stuff (spelling, passive voice) just to get the hang of it. On an eyewear page do you figure you will (1) relist the colourways with details where appropriate (like the Splice page) (2) link to the general catalogue or (3) merge them at some future point?

Well, the Splice was easy since I was able to account for all the colorways with details. Things like Minutes, I don't see happening. Use your judgement. If it's feasible, go for it, otherwise, turn your attention to somewthing else. Thanks for your help.

Also if adding glasses, please use the Black/Black colorway (or as close as you can get) for consistency. Also for page titles, center and give them the Heading 1 format, thanks.

Add whatever you can. Flesh out the models if you can. Or add info to what I've setup.

I've added a lot more, if anyone wants to build upon that instead of adding new content.

Okay, I completely rewrote the wiki from scratch and integrated it into the site as well as used the OR user accounts for authenication. This will allow me to tie the content to the site and not have a subsystem hanging off.

The codes changed a bit and should be more what you're used to here on the forum, but check out the editing tips page and the sand box for some of the more complex pieces like tables.

I will be expanding this over time, but for now, if people could give it a continual look and update, that would be great. Eventually when I redo the site layout, I will be linking directly to wiki pages for some things like the serial list and icon matching page, since others can help update it and it takes the burden off me for a bit.

One main thing you can help out with is entering the stats for each model. This should help catagorize things a bit. Just paste this under the image for each model and fill in the correct blanks:

table-1-right
rowcell
table
rowheader-span2Stats[/header][/row]
rowcellLens:[/cell]cellSpherical or Toric[/cell][/row]
rowcellIcon:[/cell]cellMolded, Intake Jet or Metal[/cell][/row]
rowcellHinge:[/cell]cellSwing or Dual Cam[/cell][/row]
rowcellUnobtanium:[/cell]cellNone, Nose, Stem[/cell][/row]
rowcellNose text:[/cell]cellYes, No, Sometimes[/cell][/row]
[/table]
[/cell][/row]
[/table]

The bold text above needs the b [ /b ] tags added back in since they got interpretted. Or just go to the page for the Tens glasses and copy it from there.

I figure if we all add things as we come across them on the fly, more will get done.

Update on the stats tables, I added them all in, so it's just a matter of filling in the info. I moved the top information like Family, Release/Retire Dates and material into the stats tables, so copy that info into the new table and remove the one on top.

I just added language support so pages can exist in German, French and Spanish as well. If you want to help translate pages into another language other than those, I can set that up.
