now really would you want the oakley competitors(if you can call them that) to have access to that information?

If their competitors really wanted to know the material makeup all they would have to do is buy the Juliets get a metallurgist to run a test.

Here's my best guess,

X-Metal: 90% Titanium, 6% Aluminum, 4 % Vanadium

I am surprised that Oakley doesn’t use a centrifugal Investment casting (Lost Wax) process, as it really elimitates the posibility of bubbles and gives a denser cast metal but is typicaly a little smaller scale process.

I really think that the whole you aren't allowed to know what the “magic metal” is and we aren’t telling is all marketing. It isn't mystical metal with advanced properties, in fact I am not sure that the metal has many special properties other than it is a lightish weight metal and it is rigid.

If those are the only perimeters you could make them out of oak

as far as just use cast Ti, sure it just oxidixes to a black oxide that is fairly durable

Raw titanium wouldn't make a very good pair of sunglasses.

yeah i know that however there are several types of Investment casting (Lost Wax) one of which uses centrifugal force to slam the metal into the cast and continues to spin while it cools versis using gravity to pour the metal into the mold
