Grey, Persimmon, Clear.

I don't know how I came across this, but I'm beginning to think that I somehow made the name up in my madness or something....

Am I the only person here who refers to these colors in this way? I use these three colors for my M-Frames pretty much exclusively, and they're great. I realize that they're the SI colors standard array setup, but for good reason! They're cheaper, as they have no iridium coats, they're less conspicuous--which is good for the field, I guess, and they cover all the light ranges.

Anyone out there hear the standard SI colors called the Classic Three?

Also the colors that have been around since the early Eyeshades and Goggle days. Many other lenses have been built upon them.

The original tint before Persimmon was Rust.
Just in case anybody is interested.

That's right. I vaguely remember that.

Really? Some of the print ads list them as separate tints:

Rust was darker than Persimmon. Not the same lens, although similar.

Yes, Rust was slightly different from Persimmon, but nevertheless,it came first, just like Bronze Iridium preceded Gold Iridium (both slightly different once again)

I think the existance of generations within items that keep the same name can lend some forgiveness to others which change names at some point.

The iridium coating and it's mirrored affect is an aspect of Oakley eyewear that is rooted in my love of the brand. As a result, I have always had a difficult time embracing such non-iridium lenses like grey, persimmon and clear.
