X-Metal can't be polished as I believe it is a baked on powder coat finsh so the only way to make it shine is to use some kind of gloss varnish. If you want a shinier look, get a carbon frame.

Say dude... Use CrystalClear Pro Metal Polish... It works very well... It will strip the x-metal finish right off...

I don't get it. If you are going to strip the x-metal finish right off, why not just buy a polished R2 frame......?

agrees with James. why the trouble and bother with the risk.

or, you could put up your xmetal R2 on classified for a frame trade with someone with a polished R2.

if i live in US, i'd snag longshot's R2 and trade you the polished frame for your xmetal R2 frame. i think it'd look sweet with the ti iridium lens on it.

do you mean the guy lets you trade the frame only or did you get a whole new set?

either way it's all good to know you get what you wanted! R2 customers are catered so well by oakley i hear that some of them'll switch the lenses if you by any chance want other lenses(ie: titanium for carbon frame)

the only thing I know that will handle polishing any frame of Titanium, Stainless, or XMetal to a high polished shine is Black Polishing Rouge for a buffer like used on car parts and stuff. A high speed buffer can give you the speeds desired (like a dremel tool for these smaller items) and the Black rouge blocks are for specifically for hard metals. I used it with a Dremel on some Titanium natural shafts for my darts, and they shined up better than aluminum! and pretty easily I might add...I will upload a pic soon to show you.
