Just got a pair of the '04 style polished/emerald slate iridium Ichiro Juliets from eBay. Damn, these are pretty. The darker underlying color of the titanium is very classy when polished, reminiscent of the finish on a high-end BBS RS-GT wheel for all you German car nuts.

Anyway, to get to my question: There are no serial numbers on these glasses (as I understand is the case with newer Juliets). Is this the first model of Ichiro Juliets that lack the serial?

what you've got probably aren't originals. they're probably customs if there is no SN. The frame sounds like a Replacement (no SN) Polished frame that someone gussied up to look like an Ichiro. Did you get a box and papers with the pair?

Yeah, I guess I'm trying to gauge their authenticity. The glasses are definitely authentic Oakleys, because the unique color of polished titanium is unmistakable. The hardware (Torx T6), optical quality, etc., all point to the real deal. The lens, of course, bears the "Ichiro 51" etching.

It came in an Ichiro box, similar to the '04 model pictured in numerous posts here, with a silver regular X-Metal/Juilet coin, standard warranty document, and 25-sized replacement temple shock pieces.

Nono, those are the real deal. Especially considering how readily available they are, and how much of a hassle it is to order emerald slate lens and green unobtanium, you can pretty much rest assured that theres no reason yours would be a custom built one. If it comes with the box, the barcode says polished/emerald slate, you're good to go.

Those are indeed the first model of Ichiros to not feature a serial number, and to my knowledge, the later few batches of the '03 polished/slate ones didnt have serials either. And also, the polished/emerald slate are the '05 Ichiros... the '04s were the extremely sought after carbon/OO Blue Iridiums.... And the fact that they are '05 explains WHY there are no serials on them.

It's odd that the box has the barcode peeled off, but I can think of a number of valid reasons why that might be the case.

FYI though the pictures kinda misleading... it has straight arms rather than the polished frame style hammer arms. Still the sexiest Oakley in my books though lol

There are only like 4 of us around here that have the Carbon\ OO Blue Ichiro's. They are a very RARE find. I got mine from Germany

I was waiting for Jason to chime in. I wanted to bid on that one so badly but sadly I couldn't since doing a Japan to Germany money transfer would have involved nothing short of a miracle. To confirm what Tom said earlier, I have both the slate and emerald slate ichiro's and neither have a serial. Sucks, but such is life. Still look killer though. Jason, have you got the carbons yet?

i'm still waiting for my friend in jakarta to tell me if the ichiro oakley jakarta has is the carbon/oo blue pair or not..

anyways, can't wait anymore. i'm definitely calling them myself to confirm it tomorrow. once i know i'll update it here and let you people know. :D

anyway, to make this post a bit more relavant, i saw the Emerald Slate Ichiros the other day and they were absolutely lovely.

Paul, if that J turns out to be the carbon and you don't want it, can I call dibs? And Bong, the emerald slate is a sweet combo for sure.

Rick I dont have them in my possesion yet, but my cousin in Germany is supposed to have them and should be shipping them to me soon.

well, i can't promise if it's gonna be the carbon/oo blue ichiros, but if it is i'll give you guys the phone number and contact person to oakley distributor branch office in jakarta(main office in Bali, but all the stock goes to Jakarta since it's the capital). then hopefully you'll be able to arrange an international purchase.

i asked for the price before though and it's 3.050 million rupiah, with the currency exchange rate at approx. 10,250/USD, you do the math.

they also still have a pair of Finito.

i realise that Rick might not know the story yet.., and that i shouldnt' get ppl's hope up here. thing is, last two weeks or so, out of free office time, i called up oakley toll free call center just to ask tis n tat, then, when i asked if oakley here ever had the ichiro juliet before or not, the CS lady told me that she'd have to go downstairs to check the stock, so i waited and she came back on the phone and told me that yes they have the ichiro and a finito on stock in the o-store, she asked if i wanted them. i asked again if they're the carbon ones or not but she wasn't sure, and it doesn't feel right to have her go downstairs again only to check it for me. so instead i asked one of my friends in jakarta to go there and check it for me, i waited but he hasnt' return any news yet(probably too busy with work. which he usually is). so, in the end, like i said above i decided to call up oakley again tomorrow to ask them for you guys. so my point is, it's not surely a carbon pair of ichiro, so please dont' get your hopes up yet. i don't want to disappoint you guys later. and don't worry, i don't want neither of them ichiro or finito.

i called today and confirmed that the ever elusive ichiro is indeed the carbon/oo blue one. they only have one in stock. so, it's taken for Tom. Rick can have them if Tom doesn't want it in the end..

the finito is also availabe only 1 left in stock. it's already taken by Ian Shaw(Smallkid), the next in line would be Jason(Longshot)

to Jason: please confirm this again since i got two PM offers, are they both for my ebay or one each..?).

Oakley Jakarta also told me that they don't serve international orders, and that i have to order it via my OPD becos they don't want to risk shipping for individual phone purchases. so i'm doing it tomorrow(since the optician i called is having a day off today). it should take at most 1 month for the whole process since the optic store(Optik Seis) have to order it from their main office in jakarta first instead of direct order to oakley. do not worry though, i placed the reserve so that jakarta can keep the items above for me, and not sell it to anyone else.

as for why the difference on the currency exhange rate question above? it's becos rupiah currency is dropping like crazy lately. economists and bankers predicts that it'll drop against USD up to 11,000/USD. which can only mean the ichiro and finito's gonna be cheaper in USD when that happens. they're both priced at retail 3.055 mil rupiah(sorry, not 3.050), which means $277.72 if the exchange rate becomes 11,000/USD next month.

everyone should know though, is that i'm willing to help you deal without taking any profit(although i must admit that it's very very tempting to put it up on ebay or here for the highest bidder instead, especially for the ichiro one), but no i'm not gonna do that(i won't refuse if given some profit though.., with my so low rupiah income it'll come handy to buy o stuffs, lol).

but the catch is, i'm not gonna use the post office to ship it, since they really cannot be trusted at all(guaranteed to be lost). so, the choices would be DHL/UPS/FedEx/TnT. and all of them are very expensive. to quote DHL i asked this evening back from the office? a shipping to US with 0.5 Kg package would cost $98.99 plus $10 insurance for item under $500 value. T_T

once the item arrive at the OPD i'll update each of the buyers on the payment and shipping information. for now? congrats to the both of you Tom and Ian.
