Its late, but I had that idea for a while (not the one with the naked midgets) canadian prices dont reflect the curent exchange rate at all, and its been like that for a LONG time.

Its kind of frustrating too, since the exchange rate is really good, thats why I will buy most of my things on Ebay.

Maybe not a petition on behalf of the o-review, but just on behalf of Oakley lovers in general.

What do you all think ?

I feel the exact same way. I'd like to buy direct from Oakley, but I can't afford their crazy mark-up on the Canadian prices. Like when guys went to an O Store in the U.S. with 2 grand, you can get a sh*tload of stuff. 2 grand here won't even buy 4 X-Metals with taxes. It sucks.

I know shipping to canada is just a pain..maybe thats why the prices are so high...or..Oakleys are made in the USA..maybe you also pay for the import duties when you buy an O product..

or..Oakley knows that some people would pay top dollar for a true American product..and they just raise the prices..it is just economics. Oakley's prices are pretty standardized...they almost never lower their prices..

Also..the overhead for Oakley is huge. What with all the american red tape and all. I read someplace that overhead cost for a pair of Straight Jackets is 20 bucks..that is a huge amount of money..

The prices used to reflect the exchange rate, but that was years ago. Shipping to Canada is only $10 bucks, so it can't be that.I wouldn't be mad if the prices reflected the exchange rate, but they're not even close anymore. It would be cheaper for me to buy a pair of glasses on O.com in US currency and convert to CDN prices. On a pair of X-Metals, the savings would be at least $100 CDN. That's pretty bad in my opinion. I just think that Oakley should reconsider their pricing in some countries, espcially the UK. Or they're going to have to face the fact that people outside of the US are just going to use eBay instead. BTW, this just my opinion. You don't have to agree with me.

Although I may not agree with what you have said, I will defend to the death, sir, your right to say it.

Yes, Canadian prices are a bit stiff. Non-Iridium GasCans are over $165 CAD when taxes are put in. Add shipping from oakley.ca? I'd rather not, ugh. (Lets not forget $700 for Ruby X-Metals when you factor in tax. Oh, and the ballistic case will be another $100)

I think they are trying to cover themselves in case of exchange rate fluctuation, so that no matter what happens, the won't be any cheaper in Canada. However, that's just a wild guess. I also think it fits into their logic of keeping prices the same all the time. If it varied with exchange rates, it would often be at odds with the prices OPDs keep.

Not trying to justify it (believe me), just trying to figure it out.
I also know that yes, our UK friends also have it tough.

anybody noticed that the assault boots dropped price recently? I think they were 350$cnd before and now they're 260$cnd. Its almost a reasonable price.

Crosshairs seem to have a more realistic price. The Iridium versions are only $195 compared to the usual $260 for Wires.

A good and simple example: X Metal Vault Us 45$ it should be 55$ plus taxes CAN.

Instead its 80$ CAN , thats a 25$ higher then the normal converted price !! 0_o

Thats not even counting taxes.

So my idea is to do a text telling Oakley Canada what we think about this situation, with numerous examples and then have people sign it.

Once a draft of the text is made others are welcome to add their 02 cents.

Are you with me guys ?

It's insane. I just ordered a pair of M Frame - Sweep, FMJ/Ice Iridium. On Oakley.ca, they list for $295 (compared to $180 in the US). I ordered them from a local Canadian dealer and I got them for $207 (tax included.) So I won't be ordering anything through Oakley.ca until they fix these ridicules prices.

It is rediculous....I know they have a warehouse up there because some stuff I've ordered from O.com has shipped from Canada....

The higher international rates might be due to customs taxes and stuff like that..?
I know in the UK and EU, alot of their prices are about 2x our msrp.
