Did anybody watch the NASCAR race and see the OAKLEY demonstration of a fireproof material (CABONEK sp??) they are developing for the military and possibly for NASCAR?

Cool! Now we can wear our CarbonX with our Carbon X-Metals & all will be right with the world! I may want to get some of this clothing to do all of the crazy, drunken campfire stunts I've been thinking about!

Does anyone have a clip of the demonstration? Was it similar to the famous demonstrations with bill simpson (of Simpson race product fame) where he used to set himself on fire to demonstrate his nomex racesuits.

I don't have a clip..the spot they showed during the race is where someone from Oakley (??) lit up two pieces of material. The CARBON-X did NOT start on fire where BRANDX did. Is was part of a bigger presentation, they had an OAKLEY backdrop too.

Cool, the quicktime video on the /racing page shows a similar test, carbon vs nomex. The nomex lasts 8 seconds and the carbon x lasts 2m05s!

Oakley has been using CarbonX for a while on the Racing Boots and Mid, Jeg Coughlin (NHRA) and Rusty Wallace (NASCAR) have been using the gloves for a little while too if anyone's seen the in-car cams. If anyone gets the chance to visit the Rolling O at NHRA events, see if Donnie will give you a CarbonX demonstration, he showed it to me about a year ago. He melted a penny on top of a swatch of CarbonX, then had me hold the swatch while he applied the direct flame. It'll scare the crap outta you but it gets the point across. CarbonX is amazing stuff.
