I finally found a display case near me! He wants $800. The description says Oakley 3.0 double wide. Is that a reasonable price?

That's really for a 3.0 double wide. I got both of mine for $500 each. Also it says it only comes with one glass shelf. They are supposed to have all glass shelves. The plexiglass shelves tend to bow if they aren't thick enough, and they scratch easily.

Unless your super desperate, or nothing ever comes up for sale in your area, I'd pass.

I'm spoiled from a time where these were much cheaper. However if you look at the prices for ordinary display cases in small businesses, those can be in the $600 range, so it's not out of the ordinary, and it's Oakley, so a bit more special.

I would get a price on replacing the plexiglass shelves with glass and see if he’d work with you on price. Price is very dependent on where you are located and availability of display cases.

As Micah stated the plexiglass will bow and scratch…. Just my two cents.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone said sounds right. As Dann mentioned retail display cases aren't cheap in general. So an Oakley case may fetch a bit more. Especially if the person realizes what they have and if it's in good condition. In my area they are very rare and I've been looking for years and years. I've only managed to get just one locally, it is used, in very good condition, has all the shelves, but I probably paid a bit too much for it. But I did because it was local. The few others I have I had to pay shipping and/or needed to convince the person to ship it. So if it's something you really want and it's not something that is easy for you to get then it maybe worth the price. I will say that I agree with Mr. Lake on looking into getting a price on glass and seeing if he'd work with you on the price because of that.
