For any Vancouver locals on here, is the Oakley Store in Metrotown mall permanently closed? Temporary due to covid? Under reno's?

I'm sure you've already seen, but it's no longer there at all. It's now a "BelowTheBelt" store... although by the look of it, Oakley moved out so fast that they left all the store fixtures behind including the stores overhead industrial look lights. Love to find a way to get my hands on them.

My gf was talking to the Sunglass hut manager a few months ago and I guess there's casual talk about opening up a new store somewhere in the lower mainland. Not holding my breath though, I used to work at the metro store and their sales numbers were always a struggle. Oakley Corp couldn't even be bothered to fix the burnt out Oakley sign above the store entrance.

I want to open up my own Oakley inspired store.

I called the next nearest store that was over in Edmonton. The girl who answered was quite in the loop. She was in on a company meeting and Oakley pulled all their retail locations out of BC :/ There's one in Whistler that's had the status of 'temporarily closed' since the pandemic, but I'm not about to make that drive.

Yes, maybe there'll be something new again. That's be nice...

The only official Oakley store that was in BC was the Metrotown store. Technically is was operated by Oakley USA. The remaining stores in Canada are Oakley Canada stores. The Oakley retail store in Whistler is open and has been for some time. I know because I’ve been there enough times that the manager recognizes me when I walk through the village now. The Whistler Oakley store isn’t operated by Oakley, it’s operated by Whistler corporate. Vail owned. They carry quite a decent range of new Oakley products.
