If the image shows up as broken, then the file has been lost, but it's still recorded in the database. If we can identify those, perhaps we can dig up the images and repopulate them.

As for the two URLs, the thumbnail is the direct address, while the one with all the & symbols is sort of a passthrough to prevent hotlinking. I get a lot of the ebay sellers using the images here, so I swap it out for a naked snowboarder or something.
