I'm not sure if these are real gascans or not. My main concern is that one of the armstems(right) does't lock into place and when I got them the hinges were squeaky. Also, left earstem does not have oakley icon printed inside. Only the right earstem does. (See pics below) Matte Black w/ polarized black iridium lenses?

It looks good as far as I can tell from the pictures. I believe only one side ever had the icon. At least on the ones I have. Could be a generational thing if they appears on both sides, as all mine are from around the initial release era. Nothing jumps out, but Gascans are one of the more simple designs, and are easy to copy.

Thanks for the clarification. I have another pair of real gascans(picked em up at optometrist). However, is there any difference in the arm the serial is printed on? I have a pair that are on the left and another pair on the right earstem.

Most GC product # and measurement printing seems to be on the right earstem, but there are many (such as the Transformers and Tin Tin) that are printed on the left earstem. For the 12-856s, I've seen it printed on either earstems, so I don't think there's an issue in that regard for your pair.

Like Dann, it looks good to me, but it's a shame one of the earstems doesn't lock into place.

yeah :/ my other gascans lock solidly. (polished black) These matte black gascans hinges were so squeaky when i got em. They are fine now after i sprayed some oakley lens cleaner in the hinges. I heard this issue is more common with the matte color gas can. However, these are still one of my favorite sunglasses to wear. Even over my polished juliets.
