As the thread states, I may be accepting a job in Richardson Texas, which is in North Dallas. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the city as far as good neighborhoods, good restaurants, attractions, etc.

I'm interested in both renting or buying if the place is right. I like the nightlife, so bars, restaurants, entertainment and so on nearby would be nice. I'm interested in "loft" style living as well. I like tall ceilings and a more industrial feel with an open floorplan...but would also consider housing again if the area was right.

Any help/advice/opinions would be much appreciated! Thanks.

You went from Texas to Seattle within the span of 3 hours?!?

I dunno, I get the impression Texas has more o-store happenings than my area.

I've been interviewing in both locations and the Texas location went from basically a lock (booking tickets for a meet and greet)to a pass in those three hours. It turns out a manager was overstepping his bounds and now I'm the loser in the situation.

Anyways, outside of the O, how do you like Seattle? Any areas I should pay attention to that would be great to live in with nearby nightlife or some great places to go trail running nearby?

With your mention of the nightlife, loft-style living and whatnot, it sounds like you are best suited to one of the more downtown Seattle neighborhoods. Capital Hill, Sodo, Queen Ann ... possibly Univeristy District, Ballard, Magnolia. Not the cheapest places to live, but that is part of the dealio when you combine lofts and nightlife.

But Seattle is cool is you cloudy days for 8 months. They say that's why they have such cool music. You have to find something to do inside for 8 months. I will say this, it is one of the most beautiful places in the US with or without the rain.

I think I can deal with the cloudy/misting if the trade-off is a beautiful landscape and lots of outdoor activities. I'm a trail-runner so this looks like a place to fall in love with.
