The other thing to keep in mind with the Pit Boss 2 is that the titanium is not Oakley's X-Metal but CNC machined. The Pit Boss 2's fit better if you have a large dome like I do but it in terms of looks it's not as aggressive as the Elite Pit Boss.

So here we have what I would like to call the "second generation" of Pit Boss; the Pit Boss 2. These sunglasses are AMAZING and a tremendous improvement over the original Pit Boss! I need to point out though that the original Pit Boss was no slouch by any means when it comes to optical clarity and overall craftsmanship of an Oakley sunglass. I love the original Pit Boss sunglass but the fact is that for ME personally, and I know there are others as well, I simply just could not wear them because they were just too uncomfortable. Why were they uncomfortable and what did Oakley do to improve this in the Pit Boss 2? I would like to go over the good and the bad in the new Pit Boss 2.

THE GOOD:

First, the original Pit Boss had no ear socks or any cushioning on the ear stems which for a lot of people, myself included, made them uncomfortable to wear. Not including this simple feature in the ear stem made it so that when wearing them for long periods of time (for me, more than 20 minutes) caused too much pressure on the head. Of course there are other Oakleys out there that do not have ear socks but you have to remember those sunglasses are all super light weight where the Pit Boss is heavier because of the titanium. It's also just a big sunglass in general. The Pit Boss 2 fixed this problem by adding ear socks (or whatever you want to call the new cushioning on them)to the ear stems of the sunglass. This one little feature alone allows me to wear them with complete comfort. I felt a little pressure on my head the first day I wore them and took them off but since then I have had no issues (had to break them in).

Nose pads. You can't tell by any photos that i've seen online but these now have nose pads on them. The original Pit Boss had no comfort for the bridge of the nose. This may not have been a problem for most but it is definitely a nice feature to have nose pads added. This too is a definite improvement because they provide extra comfort and well, it just helps them stay on your face better.

THE BAD:

I really don't have too much bad stuff to say about these sunglasses and the things that are "bad" really don't stop me from loving them.

The Oakley Elite icon. I guess Oakley has taken down their elite line of Oakleys which means that the "O" icon on the sides are no longer an elite logo. The elite icons on the original Pit Boss definitely stood out with the 3D icons all chiseled out. They just used a standard Oakley icon that can be found on many Oakley sunglasses for the Pit Boss 2. This is not a big deal I know but I would like to feel a little extra special considering all the $ spent on these.

The design. The overall design is nearly exactly the same as the original Pit Boss. This personally doesn't bother me too much I just think they could have done just a little more to change them up. They really just added the ear socks and nose pads for improved comfort and kept the overall design the same. Not a big deal since I love the design anyway.

VERDICT:

Oakley took an already amazing piece of eyewear and made it better. The original Pit Boss is an amazing sunglass and they look spectacular but I just couldn't wear them because they were too uncomfortable. Oakley made a huge improvement with the ear socks and nose pads making them much more comfortable than before. The design still looks awesome and definitely stands out from most other sunglasses. Thank you Oakley for making these my favorite pair of sunglasses.

I was hesitant to get these when since I already had the original Pit Boss. While they seem similar in some respects, the Pit Boss II is actually quite different in many ways.

For one, I feel like the frame is a little larger than the original (don't know for a fact, but they feel that way), they have unobtainium on the ear stems and nose bridge, the titanium plates are differently shaped, ear stems are completely different, and they lack the "elite O."

The unobtainium parts give this frame comfort and make it a true improvement over the original. The aggressive look and style should be no surprise given that they are Oakley. I was thoroughly surprised to see how different they were from the original, and I was not disappointed. I would recommend these to anyone considering purchasing them, and they are usually a little more affordable than the originals.

There really is no downside to these except of course, the lack of the "elite O" They are every bit an exceptional frame to have.
