If you don't own a pair of these yet, you are pretty much blowing it. This lens is completely insane. Talk about technology, a lens that really changes from 65% to Black Iridium, come on now! My personal favorite is the Crosshair, but you guys can pick your own. Go to your local OPD and buy a pair, don't buy them off the web! If I find you you did, I'm going to be pretty bummed out at you. Support your local dealer!

i've been waiting for the Transition Whiskers for the longest time but my OPD nor the O-Store have them in stock; still waiting...

oh, i thought the initial two Transition lenses (VR50 to Brown, and Black Persimmon to Grey) doesn't have any Iridium Coatings? i could be wrong...

I think Black Persimmon would have to have an iridium coating, or it'd just be Persimmon.

Not sure though.

I'll be hitting up my OPD when they arrive. Wish they sold the HJ lenses alone though. (not that I'd cut them into Splice lenses, honest.)

O.com says the lens is Black Persimmon to Grey, rather than to Black Iridium. Also, Black Persimmon is different than Persimmon Black Iridium. In real life, it looks a little smokier than Persimmon BI or regular Persimmon.

From what I've seen, it looks like Persimmon Black Iridium and changes into very dark but not as dark as Black Iridium.

Just bought them and its more of a Titanium lens than anything. It never gets fully grey, just a Dark Bronze and it does have an Iridium coating but its less reflective than a Black Iridium.

that's pretty weird, since Ti Iridium is a Brown base lens.

Well think about it. Its pretty hard for Persimmon (an orange base lens) to turn into a Grey base lens. Transitions normally dont change base color, they change light transmition. It does end up almost almost grey but not quite there.

All I can say is these are a must have item in which ever frame you prefer.

I have both of the lenses in RJ, and they are amazing. Go buy yourself a pair!

I wore the Whisker indoors at work the other day and I quite liked it. I'll take them outside next time I'm there.

One cool note on the RJ- they come with the "Pro" nosepiece, as well as regular and "alternative" fit nose bombs.

Good stuff.

Matthew, I think 'Activated by Transitions' is a perfect sollution for cycling or any other outdoor activity. The lenses get dark enough when in full sunlight and still have their color enhancing capacity when in the woods.
