I know that Swatch Designs all the big Swiss Made watches and that Fossil Makes watches for companies like Kenneth Cole, Burberry, and Armani Exchange. I'm wondering does Oakley make its own watches, or does another country manufature and service its timepeices...like Seiko, since some are Japanese Movement. Thanks!

I'm almost sure Oakley do them itself

Oakley gets the movement from others. very few companies can afford to create their own movement if watchmaking isn't their primary focus. the cases and bands are Oakley designs and products, filled with internals from others. kinda like the THUMP line and RAZR Wire.

As for Swatch Group, I'm pretty sure their control of design from companies like Omega and Tissot (two of the bigger brands the group owns) is limited in the manner of FoMoCo's control over what Aston Martin does.

Oakley has a class 10 cleanroom to handle the watch assembly.

CAL, where is the watch production facility? do they machine the cases and bands in-house at HQ? or are they just assembled there?

Wow Class 10? What does that mean asdide from, I assume, being quite tidy.

Static free, zero or minimal humidity, temp-controlled to a half-degree variance, toilet seats must be left down at all times, no throwing away chewing gum without putting it in the wrapper first. Something like that.

And, obviously, it means the people who work there get to make snide comments about the people whose cleanrooms only qualified for class 9.

They may be quite clean when it comes to assembling watches, but I can't say the same about their battery replacement procedures. About a year ago when I sent my D1 watch in after it battery gave out, it came back with a few noticeable bits of dirt/dust that would move around under the glass. I will say I didn't baby the watch in the least, using it at times when I knew it would take a beating. Maybe I had an isolated incident, but the whole thing left me irritated. Although, it's not something that even came close to preventing me from getting another Oakley watch.
