The boot looks fantastic - and the open wall display looks good too.

I'm off to read the presentation.

Eric, how do you take the frames off the new Zeros? I'm doing a custom that would be easier if I could remove them first

Tick, to get the frames off the new zeros all you have to do is pop them off. They come off pretty easily actually and don't be afraid of hurting them.

I didn't see
To stay on the subject... I am curious as how the open towers concept will work with shoplifting and all.
Not only would one worry about shoplifiting, but if I pay over $14 for a pair of glasses, they had better be straight and scratch free, a huge potential problem when joe 6 pack and his rug rats enter the store to look at the pretty glasses.

Maybe these items are striclty "display only" and you don't purchase the actual one you try on. I have never been to one of these stores, so maybe someone can elaborate.

There are pros and cons to the "premium price" market. For me, buying a paire of Why 8.0 at $180 is not exactly something I do all the time.

Do they sell the display ones? In my phone store we have phones on display for people to try but we don't sell them. We sell new ones in the box.

Tick,
Don't you mean in my North Dakota can and string store we sell only boxed ones? I did not think phones made it up there yet.

Tick, we definitely sell display stuff. In fact I just sold our last pair of Polarized Hatchets from display. We just make sure we're out of stock first.

Matt, I thought you were a cycling fan (j/k)? that's a pic from the USPS days. not new. (CHECK THE SHORTS/BIB) also looks old enough that the helmet rule hadn't changed to mandate actual protection.

actually, I just spent a good 30 minutes finding the exact time that pic is from. it's the 2003 prologue TT. the only time I can find when he wore long sleeves and blue shorts for the TT.

here's the pic from your poster:

long sleeves, and Blue USPS shorts, not to mention the same helmet from the other pic I posted. check out the star on the side.

as for an 8th go, Lance could've gone out and ruined his legacy by mailing in an effort. he didn't feel like devoting another year of his life to the Tour, rather than his family. even he can't win the Tour if his heart isn't into it. so he's gonna watch this year.

I don't think the open display will be just shades hung on a rack like the $4.99 glasses at your local dept store. Page 189 says "All Product Locked up."

I have seen displays like this for other brands. The glasses are out from behind the glass, but they are still locked to the kiosk or rack and someone has to unlock the display for you to try them on.

That slightly defeats the purpose of not having to ask an associate (poor poor shy people, why buy Oakley and draw attention to yourself). Although it still would allow you to see the glasses closer than the current towers. New towers look like they take up more floor space for the same storage space. Not good for us smaller Square footage stores.

Chicago vault had the BTO displays. Everything was laid out for you to pick it out, but it was all locked up.

Yeah, The OCP displays have been in use for the past month or so in every store.

I thought the open eyewear thing was like a shoestore, where everything is on a tether so you can't just walk away with it.
COKEMAN
Jun 27, 2006 7:16 AM
They may be on a tether, but I'm betting that it is a locking rack like other brands use.

You're right, Mars, it defeats the purpose of not having to ask an associate for help. I have a suspicion, though, that avoiding a salesman is not the intended purpose in mind by Oakley.

I don't think they intended to let people avoid sale people (It'd put me out of a job), simply let them be more comfortable while they're browsing. More interactive. Let people feel the quality.
