Paul L, people used to know Oakley for motocross grips. By that logic they never would have made eyewear to begin with.

I think a small percentage of Oakley's product are overpriced, but as pablo said they mostly are inline with the market but there are examples such as the Romeo 2.0, Starting price is $375? give me a break they are not worth $375

Yeah, but they'd have the sweetest grips ever!

Here's my take. I think Oakley is doing a good job with the quality & style of their new stuff. As far as X-Metals are concerned, It's probably not a very good material to make sunglasses out of. Sure they're super tough & comfortable but look what has to be added to make them that way. Rivets, washers, spacers, & pads add that to the impossibly volitile technique used to create the frames in the first place, no wonder there's room for error. If they make a ton on Clothing, so be it. It just funds the important stuff. I'd say on average there's 4500 to 5000 for sale on Ebay at any given time. Subtract from that probably 750-1000 things that were not produced by Oakley Inc. (Annie, pottery, fakes...) then further subtract the number of things that don't receive any bids & you've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 400-500 Oakley Items selling on Ebay each day in the US. I have to think that, between the OPD's, SGH's & O-Stores, Oakley is selling a hell of alot more than that each day. So, my bottom line is this. If Oakley continues to offer up products based on fit, function, design & technology, they will remain a very healthy company. Add to that the comments made to us personally by Jim & I think the future looks very bright.

Oakley should really focus on sunglasses instead of making watches or any other things, and i disagree with defender that oakleys aren't overpriced. their apparels are way over priced, i know for a fact that some of the t-shirts are manufactured here in my country, so a markup as high as 1000% is possible
if they only did sunglasses , they wouldn't be the company they are today, the prices on ALL products are spot-on, even the X metals / apparal range. just take a look at other brands that are "competitors" with their prices. Which is a stupid thing to do , because oakley is unique.
and manufacturing apparal may be cheap , but logisitics/employement of staff/rent of real-estate( HQ/O-STORES etc. ) and various other costs have to be paid also. and then make a healthy profit, because otherwise you are doing something wrong....

that said , i want the TIME TANK to arrive
