Disruptive by Design
Oakley held an event that according to some accounts, was two years in the making. A small website has also been put online, and we can hope that it will be fleshed out in the near future.

Details are sparse at the moment, but it was held at RED studios with Jim in attendance, and many of the notable figures were there. I will try to add photos as they appear in the social media outlets.

For now, they released this teaser video.

That's a ray of hope anyway. Does remind me of the Thump parties and such. I wonder if Lil Jon forgot to leave the last one, and has been wandering the halls ever since until a new party brought him back out.

Please, please, please re-release this line in a couple variations and colorways. I hope this is a sign of things to come rather than just celebrating the past.

I should have known you guys would have all the pictures first. After my twitter feed started blowing up with the event talk last night it sounded like an awesome event.

This looks like it's not a rebranding per se, but a reintroduction of the brand. Aside from the formal place settings, this looks like an Oakley party circa 2006 (pre-Lux)! - defiant00

You got it...

I bet its a photo from someone at HQs collection that all they had to replace a worn out nose with was one from an M-Frame, I did that once back in the day.

Looks CGI though. Lenses are too even, unless they tweaked a photograph.

Pictures are awesome thanks Dann! Any reason I can't see the video? Says it's been removed by the user but there's a good chance I suck at technology...

Forgive my ignorance, but PK? Product Knowledge? - defiant00

Yeah, sorry about, PK is for product knowledge. Pretty much where we learn next year's secrets (aside from what's already on o-review)!

Usually two PKs a year, one before summer, the other towards winter (to introduce the winter tech to newbies). Summer session is when we get teased but we are always left to die waiting for more. Winter is where the goods and secrets to the next year are shown!

Now if only winter 2014 could come faster..

On the facebook post I did, one commented that this will be the new slogan to replace 'Beyond Reason' (since that was Hans' brainchild), and another did mention the customization options. Custom colors in store, and engraving.

Seems obvious enough this is the Beyond Reason 's replacement (I hope I get new wrist bands to replace my beyond reason ones if I can't wear them anymore), customization is going to be interesting, bring a little more interest to Ostores and such.

All in all good times from here to 2015.

At this point, keeping colorways and lenses stocked on the web site for OCP would be a major breakthrough in customization ;)

Correct me if I'm wrong, as you guys normally do :).... but don't they do lens etching in a Vegas O store? I heard it's difficult and the machine is large and bulky. Possibly new technology that would make it easier to etch in OStores?

Maybe they will expand the graphical ability. Seems like a longshot though.

At this point I can confirm the "full customization" option in (select) OStores launching in the next week. Options mostly include lenses and frame color (as usual) but now also includes icons, cigar bands (Jupiter sq), and other temple pieces (such as on the radarlock). Apparently they've been testing the program out in a few stores (Mall of America) for the last couple months. But I feel like there might be something more they haven't told us yet.... :)
