AP stands for Adaptable Payload. Oakley no longer uses the name because because the line is no longer adaptable. It's basically the successor line with the lack of usability. They're nice but not as cool as the older AP line.

There were once several items that could work together. The ap vest would act like a base a lot of times and things like the ap laptop bag could clip onto it. There were also smaller items like the ap eyewear case

Anybody got any info on the AP Snow Pack? I've just bought one from Ebay on the principle that if I've never heard of it and can't find info about it, it might be slightly rare.

Haven't heard of that one. Most of the AP stuff was pretty standard.
