I have a few questions about the riddle:

Were the polished black with violet a limited colorway?

Did any of them include a pirple/violet icon or just black?

Is the Riddle male, female or unisex? I kinda like it but....

It was a Stretchline piece like the Grape Gascan, despite not being a Stretchline model as with the Twitch, Fatcat, etc... So it was only sold at surf/ski shops around that time (2005-2006). There were gunmetal icons, but you could swap with any using the medium icon like Straight Jacket or M Frame. They were sort of for females as Gascans were the male release at the time, but can be both. Females specific models came out shortly after.

It was a pretty hot item around the Review for a while (we're almost entirely male too if that helps). I've got a pair, I dig them. They were some of the first frames with the violet lens in them amongst the more recent decade of releases.
