Good all-round lenses for daytime use away from water. No iridium coating means they are quite scratchproof. I use them mountain biking, and haven't scratched them yet, despite a year of solid use. Very tough as Oakley point out - the first day I had them, the handlebars got caught on a fence when I was carrying the bike, and swung round so the bar end hit me square in the eye. It was sore, but I hate to think what it would have been like without the glasses. I thought I would have cracked or at least scratched the glasses, but they were 100% fine.

The lenses do transition if you are outside and the sun comes out. I don't notice them doing it, but they do! Diving into dark woodland after being in the sunlight they don't change quick enough nor really get light enough - they are still tinted gray, but still, that is the nature of things, you can't have clear to 9% transmission.

Recommended if you want a workmanlike set of lenses that just get the job done, but choose polarized instead for water!

I bought the Grapevines for my wife, and as much as I've tried to get them to "transition", I haven't been able to notice a difference. I'd say that they might be great in theory, but in application, they have been much less than stellar.

I have one pair of Half Jacket XLJ metallic red with these Transition lenses on them and one pair of Bottlecap chrystal black with an AR (anti reflective) version on them. The only backdrop is that the transition doesn't work indoors, so when you drive a car - use something more protective. The grey only comes when outdoors. Inside they are clear.

May be one of the top choices for allround use, between indoors and outdoor activities. Looks are really nothing here, but the function is great.
