This is my first foray into Oakley Luggage. I'm impressed. I've been watching it for some time before finally being able to pick one up. Even my friend who have seen it have commented on it. It's not common for 21 year old guys to tell you how cool your luggage is. Now they want one as well. The one thing I'm unsure about is in regard to its classification. This is obviously one of the AP product line, as evidenced by the removable outer laptop case, the inner shoe case, the metal clips, and all the requisite AP straps. In fact, I attached two of my AP pouches to the laptop bag already.

Excellent piece of lugguge. I use mine to haul around my undisplayed material and to organize my trunk. It fits nicely in my trunk and still leaves a lot of room in the trunk. there's room for about 2 weeks worth of clothing PLUS other crap. Like its smaller cousin, the Large rolling duffel is constructed of nice, heavyweight canvas and the zippers are heavy duty. They sure can take a beating. The interior mesh divider is an excellent feature. IT forces you to organize and thus, you're able to pack more. ZThe included "dopp kit" or toiletry bag is great for storing wet clothes or a couple of pairs of flip-flops or sandals.

I have two of these now. One is from 2007, all black, and the second is from 2008, black/white camo pattern. Well worth the money. They each hold plenty of clothes, shoes, etc... for long trips. I was using one for 7 day trips but needed a second when doing extended travel.

They are light weight which is good when you are constrained by the 50lb limit when flying. There lack of weight doesn't mean it is of poor quality. These have been to and from London, Dallas, San Diego, DC... numerous times and have come out with very minor dings. The bottom and the corners show minor wear from being handled. They are also easy to navigate. I have pulled then together through airports with very little trouble.

You never have to worry about grabbing another persons "black non-desrcript" bag at the airport. That worry is replaced with the one that someone will grab them before you do.

I picked this Large Rolling AP duffle up at 1/2 cost when our new Vault opened. I got to test it out only weeks later on the week trip to Vegas. Not only did it hold EVERYTHING of mine, but I had other people's stuff inside as well. It's extremely light, which meant I could pack it full of crap and still be under the 50 lbs. weight limit...if only by 2 lbs. Still, it performed better than my old luggage, and with the 50% discount...at a better cost. I loved it so much I convinced my friend to buy the small rolling duffel for herself.

The multiple pockets, zipper sections, excellent padding, and detachable laptop bag make this duffel an excellent choice for anyone looking for a long term bag.

I have the small AP roller which has been great for me on the business trips that I go on for a couple days at a time. However, for my recent trip to France, I needed something bigger and my current suitcase needed to be retired. I was attracted to this bag for two reasons. One, capacity. This bag can hold a lot. I was able to pack clothes for a two week trip and could have put a few more things in there if needed. The second was weight. Weight is a big issue with airlines now and especially when traveling overseas. A hard case is nice to protect things, but when combined with a roller feature, the bag itself can really eat into your weight allowance. With all of my clothes and a little room to spare, I was under Delta/Air France's weight limit of 51 lbs at 48. Not much, but enough. A standard full size suitcase wouldn't have been able to hold as much and would have definitely been overweight if I had tried to fill to the max. I was over the limit with my older bag during my last trip to Europe a couple of year ago. With the charge of up to $100 each way, I was happy with my choice.
It's contructed very well using heavy canvas light material and big strong zippers. The interior is really just two main compartments that have a light mesh material that zips up to keep your stuff in place when you close it. The mesh material has some zippered pockets that you could use to hold some light things although I didn't need to use them. The exterior pocket could be useful to hold something like a jacket that you might need easy access to on a road trip. I wouldn't use it though for flying. While the curved zipper makes for cool styling, it does not make for a quick closure with the zipper sometimes hanging up as you try to get it around the bend.
I liked the attached laptop case and found it useful for the trip. I am not quite sure why the Oakley website gives it the same description as the case that comes with the small rolling duffel. Having seen both in person at the O store, they are different cases. This case is basically a laptop case with one main compartement. There is a divider to stow your laptop in the back half of the case and the front half also has a soft pocket to hold general items. You won't find any organizational pockets so if you are looking for that, you will be dissapointed. Since I was only using it to hold my DVD player, the lack of pocket didn't really bother me. It will fit a full size laptop though, I tried. The outer pocket will hold miscellanous paperwork but won't fit a magazine really. You need to use the front half of the main compartment for that. I carried it on board with my AP pack and it held my DVD player, an MP3 player and a book for the trip. My AP Pack was stowed up top and I could keep the case conveniently located in front of me without killing my legroom. The water bottle holder is convenient while you are traveling. Too bad it doesn't detach. It would be nice to use on on my AP Sandbag for business trips. The ticket holder/phone holder is very convenient as well. It's a nice that you can attach the case back onto the bag. That way once I picked up the duffel in baggage claim, I attached the case, and I was a lot less encumbered walking through the terminal with the duffel in one hand and the AP Pack on my shoulders. A laptop case swinging from my shoulder would have been a bit much. It is attached by 6 velcro straps so while you can detach the case quickly, putting in back on takes more time.
Definitely a nice bag if you are going on a long trip or need a bag with a lot of space. Just keep in mind how tall it is. It is taller than the standard suitcase so you may have a problem trying to get it in some car trunks or luggage spaces on a train. If you are thinking about carrying something fragile inside, either pack clothes around it or think about hand carrying the item. The bag is soft except for the bottom near the wheels. Baggage handlers are usually a true test of a bags durability. With the exception of a small tear to one of the guards on the bottom of the bag, it was no worse for wear. Definitely recommend it.
