It combines a ride-tuned clipless plate system with a 3/4-length semi bootie design that maintains a solid feel. The toe flex groove lets you take it anywhere on the mountain, and the toe cap optimizes durability with abrasion resistance. To keep friction at bay, we utilized ETC® for the lining. I bought these last week directly from Oakley. The Wrench is the next evolution of the Radar Lock mountain bike shoe. I wanted something more like a shoe than a "slipper" style like a lot of other biking shoes, and these spiked my interest. The Wrench really is a great mountain bike shoe, able to withstand alot of punishment and still be stiff and responsive. I appreciate the metal plate in the sole so I can clip my pedals in, and I must confess I think they look pretty dang cool. However, since this is the next step from the Radar Lock, I would have liked to have seen Oakley add a velcro-down lace strap to keep the laces out of the gears of the bike, something that seems to happen pretty frequently. It necessitates the laces be tied triple-knotted and off to the side with the Wrench to prevent hanging up. Overall, a great shoe but could be better with bit of tweaking. Hopefully Oakley will remedy that in future models.
