Naturally they can fill an Omnibus with #1 issues from the 90's

Yep, there sure were a lot of them. There are some real gems in there (such as Thunderbolts), but for the most part they're average books. Not sure I like the idea of a omnibus being a sampler of various books, but what a trip down memory lane.

But $112 after only a 10% discount!!!! I hope this small discount doesn't become the norm. You can get way better discounts at the LCS (local comic shop)

Fantastic! That is one giant book. Those Adamantium/Vibranium/Platinum collection books are the king of shelf jewelry right now in the comic book world.

Awesome. I was just checking upcoming books today, and didn't spot it. Looks like a good one. I love the Brood arcs (am I the only one), but certainly a lot of supplementary material. I felt like the Frank Millar Wolverine mini hadn't been represented yet, and I see it here. I bought one of the Wolverine omnibuses, but really don't recall what that collected.

The solicitation was just announced by Marvel, so it should be a week or so before it hits Amazon.

Yep, your Wolverine omnibus should contain the Wolverine miniseries.

Ah cool. I got the 4 originals for $10 from a co-worker who had some water in his basement. Flattened them as best I could, but figured the price was right.

Following up on the $500 Secret Wars set comes the $500 Civil War collection:

Was under $200 to get all the paperbacks, so I'll stick with those at this point. Don't recall Civil War being riveting aside from the standalone issues.

The Kirby cover is spot on.

Man, comic book prices are skyrocketing for collector pieces. While the author uses outlier numbers rather the average, it does go to show that even the modern day stuff is getting out of hand:

On one hand, this means I will never be able to afford a decent condition Action Comics #1 or Detective Comics #27. On the flip side, I can pretty much retire comfortably in a couple decades purely off my comic book collection if the momentum continues.

I can't believe the Batman Adventures #12. But Harley Quinn is hot right now and it should go up again after the Suicide Squad movie. Wow.

And I'm with Oak about never being able to afford a Detective Comics #27. And like everyone does, I could kick myself for passing on a few copies in the past.

Depressing. Few years back, I took my collection out and started filling in gaps from when I stopped back in 1999 or so (and I really had stopped prior, but had them mailed subscriptions still arriving). Probably only spent a few hundred, but I got a huge block of Uncanny X-Men filled in, finished Gen-X, X-Factor, Dazzler, and pretty much everything from 1980-1990 and then some. Was going to chisel away at the earlier issues one at a time, but I don't even want to look now.

Did you ever get yourself a Batman Adventures #12? Congrats if you did. I kick myself over that book. I delayed getting it for the longest time and missed out on it before it exploded. Now I don't want to pay the astronomical prices. I've been good at picking up the key books, but I just didn't have the foresight on that one.

Yes, I have all of the Batman Adventures. That was one I bought from the beginning. I'm lucky I am a Batman fan or I maybe wouldn't have bought that series.

I get lucky every now and then on key books from a series that I don't buy regularly. But I end up missing quite a few also. I deal with a pretty good local shop, so they try and take care of me.

Finally got a chance to read all six volumes of Akira in the last few days. Very quick reading. Fantastic story. Even better artwork, though I wish they had reprinted the colour version from Marvel's Epic line. While Katsuhiro Otomo's artwork is fantastically detailed, it becomes a detriment in B&W since the detailed lines sometimes blur into each other. Highly recommended stuff, at any rate.

I'm one of those that saw the anime/movie first. While the movie was indeed revolutionary for North American anime, it's story had some WTF moments. The manga/comic is much better since it gave plot lines time to breathe. The latest rumour is they want to make a live action trilogy out of it (with hopefully Christopher Nolan directing or producing), but they will have to scale it down quite a bit. The manga is absolutely epic in its scale.
