our most recent other purchase is our honeymoon:

http://www.chaayahotels.com/ChaayaLagoon.htm

staying 2 weeks in one of the water bungalows on this beautiful resort in the maldives.

flying both ways business class with emirates from london via dubai.

the bank balance is now £9000 GBP lighter-alot, but you only get married once hey.....plus it keeps the future mrs jewiss happy so when i wanna buy some new 'o's' for the honeymoon she can only say 'yes honey' :)

I could not pass up a deal of FLIPPJ offering me enough GBP for my ZEROS and SUBZEROS to buy the PORSCHE!!!! Without him and his generous offer, the car would not be!!!!! LOL :P

man, that is some serious taste..Take a Porsche of a high maintenance Ferrari any day of the week simply because of practicality...That and I like Lambo way more than Ferrari...Did you get rid of the Cayenne for this bad boy?? John has his sh!t dialed and I would expect nothing but the best...And no cup o noodles in his house...LOL

josh, surprisingly enought the running costs for my ferrari 348 (when i had it) was no different to other cars ive owned like mr2's, supras etc.

im guessing, if it was bewteen the gt3 and the 348, the gt3 would cost more to run.

its each to their own on what they like, just like oakley!

i grew up in the 80's so the 348 was the ferrari i remembered and wanted and performance wise, again against johns gt3, he would leave me standing, but in the job i do, i have to stick to the speed limits all the time anyway, so i i tend to just cruise more....but it still had that punch when you needed it!

until that time comes around again, the rest is memories, but i loved it.

there are many great cars and with friends who own losts of different types like the audi r8, gallardo, ferrari 430, noble etc, they are all amazing, but I liked the 348 :)

JOSH - you are sooo kind with the words.... thanx, but yeah i do have cup noodles, the wife loves it when she wants a snack LOL.... I love FERRARI more than LAMBORGHINI, but back in 80s, the LAMBO COUNTACH in white was my favorite because of MIAMI VICE!!!! lol

Like they say, different strokes for different folks!!!! :D

But your taste is more impeccable than mine, as you can see with the beautiful woman by your side.
--------------------------------------------------------

FLIPP - Love the FERRARI 348. I wish u still had it too.

The Ferrari 458 is the BOMB right now!!!!!!!

But in the end of the day u gotta tell yourself the memorable quote:

PORSCHE: THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE :)

flippj./..Not sure that the difference in operating costs there to here would be because of the availability of fine mechanics and maintenance facilities, the money conversion, or the fact that it is European and parts may be less costly in europe vs. the usa, but either way that is comparing apples to oranges here. There are many many more Porsche dealers/mechanics vs. Ferrari/Lambo/Bentley/Aston Martin outlets or service centers, so I think here the operating costs are lower in the end, but I could be way off. Plus the 348 isn't quite in the same ballpark as the GT3...Maybe a better comparison would be the standard Carrera 911 NA model. Closer to spec and at that point, no comparison for operating costs.

I would say it's probably safe to say that both are wonderful car makers, and they both are some of the best purist sports cars in the world...But here in California, we probably have almost as many Factory Porsche Dealers/Service Centers than all of Ferrari Factory Outlets in the whole USA and maybe North America...So that plays heavily into operating costs here...

josh

agreed my friend, it does help being in europe, but also as the ferrari 348 is of a slightly older generation, they are a little bit more basic and bit less comuterised, so maybe a little cheaper to repair.

but servicing and petrol costs, id say it like for like to other cars of a newer age.

agreed for sure, even in the uk, porsches are everywhere compared to ferrari's.

john

forgot about the countach, a great car,. but out of the lambo's ive gotta go diablo, especially after being a passenger in jamiraqui's purple one he owned years ago-awesome car!

WOW!! That would be a fun experience....Jamiraquai purple Lambo...The Diablo VTTT was a cool car in it's day. Love the old Countach models of the 80's. Jalpa and Miura were also very classy, but for the era, the Ferrari 308gts and 512tr were the icon TV cars being in Magnum P.I. and Miami Vice as well.
