I have seen far more money spent for far worse oakley gear. I would be far too tempted to pull the trigger if the opportunity presented itself.

While Fountainhead project managed the development of the Hollywood O Store sign, Sword and Stone actually sculpted it:

"7000 pound perforated steel sculpture made in 2001. 20 feet long by 8 feet height."

http://www.swordandstone.com/props/oakley.html

As another bit of trivia, Sword and Stone is the shop that created the Infinity Gauntlet prop seen in the background of the Thor movie.

Very interesting, the TB helped inspire the OTT:

http://www.visioncareproducts.com/ME2/Audiences/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=Insight&type=Publishing&mod=Publications%3A%3AArticle&mid=8F3A7027421841978F18BE895F87F791&AudID=28EBA89F5F874675BCE10DE3DCF0D05B&tier=4&id=5067F6DB222B472C85DB1E2558131922

It’s not a common product because it literally fits over the top of your head, not around your ears. The inspiration came from a wristwatch we offered, an invention called Time Bomb®. We held two of these watches vertically to the top of a head, letting the watch cage lay over the eyes.
Interesting 3D info as well. One studio big movie release per 6 months? Surprised to read Baden saying "Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, and I think we’re 50/50 on that one" as well.

I know this has already been stated in previous post but I thought I should bring it up for newer collectors. The Romeo was originally named the "Oscar" before getting its final name:

I checked the Wiki page to see if I had that recorded, and I did, but noticed that the Jawbone was originally going to be the Racing Jacket 2.0. How things have come full circle.

It's funny to go back and read those articles, back when $250 was the most expensive pair Oakley offered!! Ah, the good old days...

Some wondered why the X-metal launch coin had a date of Dec. 11, 1996 when the official X-metal release was in February 1997. The first article addresses the launch/preview event and the coin was given out during that event.

HASSELL designed Oakley's Zurich office/showroom:

Also, Jermaine Washington of Regarding Architecture with Mark Hurcum Design Practice created the Oakley Sydney store:

Oakley Barcelona showroom by Machado Architects (not quite clear if it's just concept work or if it's actually been built):

Some very, very cool stuff going on here. I LOVE the OAKLEY letters at the Zurich office - that would be awesome to have - then again most of this stuff would be awesome to have.

The Sydney window brackets are awesome. They obviously coordinate with the 2.0 display cabinets. I'm not the biggest fan of the 2.0 displays but they do have some cool features those similar brackets being one of them.

Vapor Tech does Oakley's X-metal coating.

For X-metal fans who want to know who does the frame coatings, what process is used, how they do it and why they do what they do, have a read of this:
http://www.vaportech.com/pdf/VaporTech_EyeWear.pdf

They don't mention Oakley by name since it's a case study, but the company is indeed Oakley.

HI Guy's
I have been many times to the OSP offices in St Kilda.
Agree with you all not that great but one thing they do well is the rooftop parties they hold in summer.
