Just a question for the painters (DrChop or any other qualified custom guy ^_^ ) regarding the frame and its reaction to paint and/or solvent.

Do you remove the original paint before painting the frame ?
If yes, is it possible to do it with solvent without damaging the frame ?

I have a gen2 Racing Jacket that I would like to paint but I need to remove a custom paint job that was made.

Thank you for your help.

Depends on what was done to it already, but it shouldn't be too terribly hard to strip and fix. Shoot me a message and I can better advise you on that one

I've been following this thread and decided to give it a try despite my limited skills and resources.

My Splice was given to me by a friend who lost interest in it because of scratches all over its lenses and frame. I replaced the Grey lens with Deep Red Ruby Iridium and spray painted its Matte Black upper frame with Bronze-Gold quick drying acrylic paint last night and here's the result:

I'm not sure if I have done it right but I like the results anyway. In case I decide to change the color, can I use ordinary paint thinner?

If you like the results, that's all that matters. The Splice was the first frame I tried to customize as well.

My wife liked the look and asked me to do her Enduring's.
I had already painted the frames pink last year.
Hard to tell in the pics they are base pink.

This thing proved to be a serious challenge. Talk about a masking nightmare! Even designing the tribal pattern in illustrator, which I am not well versed in, it took forever to get it right...And then to apply it, and to spray out the color without any of it lifting or ghosting...What a BIOTCH! But as I like to say, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!

Here you have it...Full Tribal OTT with brushed metal base and smoke tribal patter...Oh, and the smoke pattern has Hilite Orange Pearl over it to really make the orange tones in the lenses pop in sunlight...This ain't no ordinary OTT and it DAMN SURE ain't dipped, printed, or done any other way but the hard way lol

now there will be 4 more tribal 1 off customs... posted on my FB page last night the ability to get 4 different pairs, and all 4 have gone. I may have to add 2 more, but may hold off. They could "clearly" be game changers in tribal

Thanks everyone...The 4 came and went, the owner of the OTT snatched 1 up in a hurry, and so did the other 3 for that matter lol...But, to answer the question of "does the owner also have the Monster Dog to match"...Yes, yes he does. I did the icons to match the colors and pattern of the Tribal Dog back in 2007 when I was just playing with true customs and when Oakley was dipping their toe into hot water with their cough"custom ocp"cough program hahaha. Some members here will recognize this pair and who owns it, most won't. Been a long time and most posting here haven't been around so long lol
