I thought I read a march release from somewhere... I could be wrong

I read all of the R1 releases were getting pushed back until March and the SF16-C was pushed back until April. Not sure how reliable the source but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I actually have to say that I like the look. However, I am a cheapskate and I won't be paying $2k for these. These are definitely too rich for my blood!

I've heard they were pushed back, but I can't be certain. Just here-say.

Q, not wanting to spend 2k on these does NOT make you a cheapskate! the few people on here who will spend that much wont be happy about it!

Does anyone happen to know whether these are serialised? Seen some pics on Instagram and assume they are already been distributed/sold.

They haven't officially been released as they were delayed. Not sure why some are already out.

The ones shown online are rep samples to show thier accounts. Talk to your rep to have a peak of them (or even to buy it off of him/her).

I have been told they are not serialized, but anything can change before the official release. Been told they have been delayed, but not sure when they'll be released. Hopefully in R2 in a few months.

I heard they have been pushed out even further than R2.

Good! That will give me more time to save up for one :)

That's too bad. Was hoping to buy them sooner rather than later (before they inevitably jack up the Canadian retail price).

My thoughts exactly Kenny! Oak, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the price does not go up for Canada.

Interesting turn of events. I was messaging with one of the designers on the project and he said the model was actually cancelled at one point (which I suppose is why it's so late), but it is back on again and all set to go.

Any reason why it was cancelled at one point Oak? Is the September target date I heard still accurate?

I asked a followup question on why the initial cancellation, so we'll see. Didn't think to ask about the release date, since they generally aren't in day-to-day contact with the retail strategy portion of Oakley's operations.

I have heard rumors that the model will not be released at all due to difficulties between Oakley and Ferrari. Anyone knows?

That will be a shame. But I think oak has some inside scoop about the model. It was almost cancelled but will now be produced sometime in the future

I've heard the same thing, but have also heard that production would be pushed back to Q1 release 2017. If it comes out in 2017, that would also coincide with Ferrari's 70th anniversary.

Yep, word is it'll be out early to mid-2017. Knowing Oakley, it'll be cancelled a few more times before it is actually released.

All of us have already seen the regular Ferrari SF16-C, but some of you have also seen the blacked out version below. What is it? The designer/modeller I know that worked on the project wrote this to me (letter-to-letter copy/paste): "That was one of are frist prototype. It will not have that combo in color."

Basically it was one of the first prototypes sent out to the Ferrari team to use. There were previous, hand-made prototypes of course, but these ones were the first to go out to the athletes.

Cool Oak. I do like the blacked-out versions of things. So this would've been a nice option.

This one puts me into a serious quandary. Back when the C-Six came out and I looked at the price, I decided it was insane and skipped it. Now, I regret not getting one every single time I see a picture of it.

This one though.....unless it is a seriously limited, numbered thing in a crazy nice box, I just don't think it's worth what the rumors are saying. $2k? Ouchie, that's a ton of coin for basically a fancy hinge.

Yeah, $2000 is the current MSRP.

Missing out on a major release is always regrettable. This one will certainly be a major release but there should be enough to go around if the rumours on production numbers turn out to be correct (~2k). Hopefully you can get one at a highly discounted price if/when they are released so that the price is more palatable. Good luck on your decision!

What I can say is the glasses are very cool. I tried one on and like it more than the C Six, so it is a "must have" for me. It certainly has a higher level of engineering/design effort, but I can definitely understand it is tough to justify it being 5x more expensive than something like a Jupiter Carbon.

But it has carbon fiber in it, and Oakley's pricing is weird on CF models when compared to other models.
