I think most of us have seen pics of the the SF16-C in one form or another, so this thread is to gather your feedback on it. What do you guys think of it?

The price hurts. I think had it been in the X-Metal price range, it would be everything we wanted in an Oakley design, but that premium pushes it out of reach.

Ever since the Jupiter Carbon was released, there have been a handful of WTF-priced products including the new Raw Madman and the blackline carabiners. And this likely won't change any time soon. In fact, we'll likely get more as the years roll on.

The SF16-C will certainly fall into that WTF price category and likely lead the pack because of its high MSRP. Most people will see it as a little bit of CF, a little bit of Ti, and a whole lot of cheap O matter. Now, the marketing called it injected Carbon O Matter, what that actually is is anyone's guess at this point until they educate us. Until then, collectors will remain perplexed about the value of the product.

There are rumours that there will be 2,000 or 2,200 made. There are also rumours from those who have inside connections that say it will not be serialized. What this translates to is the ability to make a lot more if it sells well. Surely Oakley and Ferrari want to sell as much as possible to their respective fanbase to capitalize on what is likely an expensive collaboration, but it further degrades the value in collectors' eyes.

As for myself, I'll likely be getting it no matter what. The way it looks like it fits and can be adjusted seems like it will be perfect for me, and even if it doesn't end up fitting well, it'll be a good display piece. March can't come fast enough, but I am 100% certain my fellow collectors won't be sharing my enthusiasm.

I just wish I could share your financial situation :). These are interesting but something about square frame glasses just doesn't grab my attention.

Since I have all the other Ferrari models, I will try to get it just because... I will probably have to sell my car...

Ouch. I have actually seen it for sale online. Could that be?

They are offering pre-orders with the expectation that they'll receive stock. No one has it officially for sale yet.

There's an online shop with all the R1 2016 stuff, but nothing officially.

Read the reviews for this company...Eyewearorders.com
They have the PB 1 's still listed in stock. Not any good reviews at all.

Not really digging this piece. Not sure though how special are the hinges or if there is really something worth its price other than the badge. The side reminds me of the coilover prescription frame which hurts it even more for me.

Perhaps the price hurts me the most lol..

I don't know. The more real life pics that come out, the cheaper the pair looks and not as elegant a design as I thought it would be. Not sure how consumers can see $2k worth of value in it right now, but we'll see what the marketing sells us.

Not even close to the workmanship of a c six , so much potential with a triggerman frame and piston hinge

Does anyone know if they're still coming Feb, 1, or have they been delayed? A lot of the R1 stuff has trickled in this week (Carbon Shift, Stringer, Maninlink, Thinlink) for sale starting Feb, but the SF16-C isn't one of them.
